Mijares is a featherfisted fighter and this has been debated in several forums already and so trying to insinuate that Mijares has bigger punch than Donaire is ridiculous.

Most Mijares fights ends in decision whereas it is KO/TKO for Donaire. Common opponent in Maldonado was a split decision for Miares while a KO for Donaire.

The only other quality fighter who is more powderfi8sted than Miares is Guzman.

I'm still stunned. I've never been more confident in an ultimately wrong pick, except maybe Cotto-Margarito.

No, I was definitely more confident here.

 

It's because too many of us pick with our dicks far too often.

We look at a certain fighter, like what we see, and then start exaggerating all his qualities. Then, we start hyping him like mad until we start believing our own hype! Then, we look at his opponent and look for all his faults and blow them out of proportion. We don't consider his strengths that much. When we see a strength, we simply ignore it, putting it down to a lucky punch or a lucky move, or a poor opponent. Then, we assume that our favourite will benefit from the best case scenario where styles interplay is concerned. He will be at his very best and get the ideal gameplan just right! He will show tactical flexibility and flashes of genius! On the other hand, his opponent will have a terrible time, and will fight as bad as at his worst. Then, we pick something crazy like: "Mijares will school Darchinyan in every minute of every round and make him look like an idiot, before knocking him out, brutally."
