If you think that Cotto last because of his "glass jaw" then clearly it's time to start following an other sport. Cotto took a ton of hard shots and he didn't go down because his chin betrayed him, he was just destroyed mentally and physically. Just because you had one fight right doesn't mean your magic formula works, Zakman. Taylor has a very good chin and in fact went the distance with Pavlik, one of the hardest middelweight punchers of all time, despite his "grade A china chin". Of course, ESB's "chin checker" wasn't checking anything after Klitschko beat Peter, after Abraham beat Miranda, after Arslan beat Ding, after Lewis beat Tyson, after Lewis beat Vitali Klitschko, etc etc.... You have the mentality of a 10 year old if you reduce every boxing match to "who has been down and who hasn't". P.s. did you know that glass chinned FRAUD called George Foreman was knocked down by feather fisted Jimmy Young? That Philadelphian bum Frazier was down twice against Bonavena and that Cassius kid sure had a GRADE A CHINA chin when Cooper and Banks knocked him down.
So Tyson who has been stopped 5 times is above Calzaghe who has never been stopped and who has turned into hay makers flush on the chin and been up before the count got to 5? And Ali is granite and yet was dropped heavily with one shot from Cooper and dropped by several others too. What is funny is look at your shaky list there, Lewis, Hearns, Wlad, Cotto....they have all beaten numerous guys with better chins and in the case of the Lewis and Hearns they are ATG fighters who beat numerous top drawer opponents with what you class as a better chin.
He didnt do his research and he bought into the whole"he was robbed in Germany,,,ect)without actually doing his homeowrk. If he did his homework he would know that.. Miranda vs Eastman-Miranda wobbled Miranda vs Green-Miranda dropped Miranda vs Abraham 1-Miranda wobbled several times Miranda vs Pavlik-destruction Miranda vs Abraham 2 -cold calculated excecution... Abraham hasnt been in trouble and hasnt even come close to getting KO'd. Going by your standard's Zack the signs were there for Miranda all along. Why did you choose to ignore them????
It's more amusing to see that he's got Holyfields chin as better than Tysons to me, despite Tysons stoppages. It's also hilarious to have Hayes chin as glass when he's cleared out a division in 20 fights and only lost once while on his feet :nut
To be fair Ali's chin improved with age and weight-gain....Hayes might do the same. I ****ing doubt it, but it might.
Of course Holyfield's chin is better than Tyson's. Holyfield was stopped ONCE in his prime, against one of the best HWs of the decade, Riddick Bowe. Tyson was stopped by Buster Douglas. And for those questioning Tyson's high rankings, I place VERY little weight on stoppages that occur late in a fighter's career when they are washed up. Virtually ever fighter's chin gets worse as they age. Ali was an exception here, as well.
Holyfield was stopped once in his prime - so was Tyson. Tyson took a far worse beating in the process, and never got bounced around the ring by a single shot like Evander did against Bert Cooper either. I like the way you use the 'in his prime' thing too, otherwise we'd have to mention Holyfield getting stopped from a body shot by a middleweight - still his chin held up though :good
Well, if we extend the analysis to out-of-prime fights, Tyson got stopped more times than Holyfield. And, when you add that Holyfield was one of those guys who stopped him, particularly since he was a less hard hitter than Tyson, this REALLY buttresses this argument. When you add it all up, I don't see how you can conclude that Tyson had a better chin!
Not really, it's all about style making fights, something you seem to find hard to grasp. Tyson was also never going to age well as a fighter, what happened out of the ring finished Tyson more than anything that happened in the ring. Oliver McCall and Rahman were both lesser hitters than Lewis and by your own chart up there Rahman had a worse chin than Lewis, yet knocked him out, how the hell did that happen, using your all-knowing equation :huh Lewis also hit harder than Bowe yet never stopped Holyfield, despite having him on ***** st in round 4 or 5 of that first fight? I also made reference to Leonard V Hearns, Leonard stopped Hearns once yet ended up getting floored more than once in the rematch and landed his money punch on Hearns without KO'ing him in the rematch. Shouldn't happen, right? The answer to the Holyfield - Tyson thing is simple, Tyson was supposed to be back to his prime and he wasn't, Holyfield was supposed to be past his, and wasn't. He (Holyfield) landed more punches, boxed the perfect fight and won - yet Tysons chin had nothing to do with it, he was stopped on his feet and totally busted up, just like Cotto last night where chin also didn't come into it, despite your bull****.
Simply because a fighter gets stopped on their feet doesn't mean their chin is that good. Granted, getting KTFO shows a fighter has a worse chin, but ANY inability to make it to the final bell has to raise questions about a fighter's durability - and should affect their "chin" ratings. Chin is just a synomym for punch resistance. Now, back to Cotto - indeed he did get busted up, which is exactly what I said was gonna happen. I am NOT arguing that he has the classic Fraudley- style "glass jaw," merely that his lack of good punch resistance is what lay behind why Margarito was able to wear him down and take him out. The only reason he wasn't laid out was because his corner stopped the fight. Otherwise he WOULD have been KTFO. He knew it was coming, the audience knew it was coming, and most importantly, his uncle knew it was coming. :nod
Holyfield had a pretty damn good chin. I mean consider what a small man killer Riddick Bowe was. And Holyfield held his own for a little while. Holyfield also took Tyson and Lewis bombs plenty. I would rate McCall very high but he hasn't had the huge fights that Holyfield has, against serious punchers.
Cotto feel victum to a poor defense and a relentless Margarito, nothing more. It had nothing to do with "poor punch resitance", it was accumualtive punches and a lack of will. You sir, are very, very wrong.... Again.
