If the shogun from pride shows up then i give him a great chance of winning but i don't know if shogun has fully recovered from his injuries. He had only 2 fights in the past 2 years and it was against 2 past prime fighters in coleman and liddell. If he is 100% then i give him at least a 50/50 chance of winning this fight.

But right now i don't know if rua is 100% so my pick for now is machida by either decision-ko or sub win.

Totally agree. The shogun from pride was a violent beast. If that shogun shows, I pick shogun. If they lay back, Machida will pick him apart.

    This should be a great fight. I can't wait.:happy

    What's so terrible about it?

Hardonk vs Barry - should be an insane kickboxing matchup,

Neer vs Tibau - Neer almost never has a boring fight and Tibau can do some pretty amazing things.

Johnson vs Yoshida - real test for Johnson, both guys are consistantly exciting and Yoshida has some of the best Judo and nastiest throws around.

Velasquez vs Rothwell - could be Cains last fight before a title shot if he wins, Rothwell is no walkover. The fight itself could be anything from non-stop action to boring though.

Elegant Karate or Aggressive Muay Thai. It's a great striking match. Ultimately I think the result rests in how each fighter employs their chosen style.

I don't like Rua's stance and guard. As devastating as he is, I think his balance, footwork and guard is the sort Machida could feast on. However his aggression might override his technical flaws and allow him to find a home for his strikes.

Machida is a sharp shooter and I think his style will prevail but there is a good chance Rua's aggressive and dynamic striking can cause problems. With that high head and leaning back style, Machida works on split second calculations. Wrong calculations can lead to devastating results when faced with the threat of someone like Shogun.
