Just read on box rec that Esham will be fighting Oleg Yefimovych for European title next week in Donetsk. How did he get this fight he is in poor form and hasn't won a meaningful fight in almost two years, hardly European standard.

It must be a late replacement. Esham is badly on the slide...he's shot to pieces now and fighting at a weight that isn't really his weight.

I hope this is his last fight if he loses which is more then likely. Been a great servant to British Boxing over the years...and a very talented boxer aswell.

Yep, Pickering is just a late replacement like Lynes was for McCloskey recently.

I saw Pickering get shown up badly against the frankly limited Sean Hughes so this doesn't bode well for him. Just seems to stand square and get tagged repeatedly!!

Newark's Esham Pickering gets a surprise shot at the European featherweight title next week in the Ukraine against Ukrainian holder Oleg Yefimovych (October 3).
It looks a daunting task for the ageing Pickering who steps in quite late for the injured Paul Appleby and once challenged for a world title and held the European title at super-bantamweight. Presumably he gets the job as a ‘name’ challenger for the tough-looking champion. "Brown Sugar's" recent form has not been sweet.
Yefimovych 16-1 (10), is enjoying the royal build-up at home after straying outside just once in his fifth pro outing in 2006 and dropping an eight-round decision in Uzbekistan to local man Alisher Rahimov, who was 11-0 at the time and still remains unbeaten. Since then, Yefimovych has reeled off 12 wins, including a solid 12-round decision over fellow countryman Yuri Voronin (who busted up Nicky Cook over here in a hard 12-rounder won by Cook), dropping rugged southpaw Voronin in the process. It took Yefimovych four rounds to flatten Spain’s Juan Garcia Martin, who lasted double that with Pickering.
The 27-year-old champion has done absolutely nothing wrong as he enters the third defence of his EBU belt, whereas Pickering has lost three of his last five (in good company and all on points) and definitely looks to be fraying around the edges at the age of 33, a pro 13 years. Yefimovych, in contrast, turned pro in 2005.
Time waits for no man and right now Pickering is over the mountain while Yefimovych is climbing it and climbing it fast. In the Ukraine there can only be one winner.

Lindsay will need to get the finger out or his career will have passed him by before he realises. He is already quite old considering he is still fighting domestically.

Looking forward to Simpson v Lindsay (if it happens of course lol)

Also looking forward to seeing young Appleby make a return to the ring (hope the injury isnt too bad )

Great chance for Esham. If he has anything left he could pull off a surprise but instead I expect he will be stopped mid fight.
