He probably means Judah's habit of fading or going mentally inconsistent either somewhere around the midpoint of his fights or later. Examples include: Winning most if not all of the first 4 rounds against Mayweather and then coming apart, not throwing enough, and letting Mayweather dictate the rest of the fight. Hurting Cotto early, then letting him off the hook, not throwing enough, and Cotto eventually walks him down to an 11th round TKO. Dominating Clottey early, but slowing down, covering up too much after getting hurt when Clottey started hitting back, having the ref take things to the scorecards after 9 rounds becaus of a cut, and losing a technical decision on that. Having a lead going into the last round of his first fight against Spinks, only to be knocked down in both the 11th and 12th, which was just enough to give the victory to Spinks. Losing to Baldomir. Etc. That kind of stuff.
The OP made a very good breakdown, but Judah's past suggests that in the end Judah's chances lie in having a huge talent gulf between him and his opponent, (which I don't feel he has here) getting to someone early, or surprising the competition with one or two punches. Both of the later are certainly possible, especially because Judah's punch technique is much, much superior to Maidana's, but going on past history Khan has to be a favorite. If Judah doesn't get him out of there early, he mostly likely won't be able to do the job. That said, I haven't seen Judah's last few fights, and haven't seen what sort of improvements, if any, he's made. As a result, I'm not 100% up to date on what Judah can do or is capable of. Still, I gotta figure it's at least a 70/30 leaning towards Khan, if not more. The main problem will be that if Judah hurts Khan like Maidana did, Judah is too fast for Khan to just dodge and outbox, and powerful enough that he can follow up with something other than winging, roundhouse punches.
Gotcha. Just wish he'd use different terminology. Appreciate your response. Zab will be the first to admit (and has) that in his past, he was his own worst enemy. BTW, Zab was caught flat footed and floored (not hurt) in 11th in Spinks I, and recovered to win the rest of that round and badly hurt, floored Spinks in round 12 with Cory basically being saved by the bell. This is why Spinks v.s. Judah II was commonly referred to round 13 by the Judah camp. Any cool, and thanks...:good
Yeah, this is my kinda fight. While I happen to think Judah will shatter Khan's abysmal chin, obviously Judah's could get shattered too!
More like a case "when he gets to him early...." cause chances are Judah is going to land pretty often early in the fight. The question is whats gonna happen when Judah gets to him not if because its gonna happen.
