Well had he kept hitting Mercer with those shots it would have been lights out or he would have quit which mercer said he was close to doing later he admitted to that. I watched EVERY Morrison fight of EVERY rnd the other night( which didnt take long bc he had many early rnds lol ) Really maybe the most wasted talent in HW history. While Tyson wasted his,not at his best he could still be elite. Morrison was much rougher around the edges ,he actually threw his first REAL power right hand around his 17th/18th fight...it took him just about his 18th fight to start looking refined. what also ppl forget he was the first fighter forged out of the Tyson system when Bill Cayton came in to the picture. only one other guy had been molded like a tyson and that was another HW, Daniel Dancuda who Kevin Rooney trained which fell WAYYYY short.
Morrison was knocked down 13 times by age 26. 3x by Michael Bentt and 2x to an 8-8 Ross Purrity. He never was and never would have even approached Tyson in any way.
Real good talent! If he had been more dedicated his craft! This, a guy that drank himself into unconsiousness many nights! Really is sad what happened to him!
Morrison was a good fighter, had power, doing really great, but he partied way too much and did not train much, but when he did train he was a really good fighter with tons of power, esp. that left hook. He was an exciting fighter, just wish he had not partied so much.............
Where can I find this movie? Either to watch or to download? It seems nowhere to be found ATM and I heard great things about it...
The *******s at YouTube took it down within 24 hours do to ‘copyright’ violations. Though I will say it seemed like a bit of a hatchet job on Morrison.
Good heavyweight with a devastating left hook. Morrison had some wins over solid opposition like Razor Ruddock, Pinklon Thomas, Carl Williams and of course George Foreman. Morrison also had plenty of car crashes in the ring: the Mercer disaster, Bennett KO1, struggling with journeymen Joe Hipp, and getting schooled by Lewis. Perhaps without the demons he would have only lost to the elite heavyweights of the 90s (I don't think he ever beats the best of the 90s like Bowe, Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, etc). Of course would of had a much longer career if he didn't catch the HIV. A sad story really, not many people get blessed with extraordinary talent and to see someone throw it away is a tragedy.
Morrison showed a lot of heart in his career. He didn't have the best whiskers (they weren't terrible either) but he nearly always got up when he got hurt.
Morrison was almost as dangerous to past prime 80's heavyweights as their respective drug addiction. His match making team sure knew how to navigate him just right, up until a point anyway. You could say the match making is similar to what we see perfected nowadays by fighters like Wilder.
Foreman and Ruddock were both top 10 when he faced them. However, I said I don't think Morrison ever beats the best of the 90s. Ruddock and Foreman were fringe top 10 guys; others I would have probably taken Morrison over would be Golata, Briggs, and Grant.
That's false. Ruddock had not been ranked top 10 for 3 years. Foreman wasn't top 10 in 1993. http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings:_Heavyweight--1990s
