In his prime Ali was unbeatable. Sadly we missed 3 1/2 yrs of his prime when he was wrongly banned from earning his living
Holmes isn't that underrated lol.. he went life and death with Ken Norton, and that's about right. He's about as talented Norton. Norton is maybe a little tougher to deal with because he was so unorthodox. Holmes cries because there were no great heavyweights for him to prove himself, when he should consider himself lucky that there weren't. He couldn't have handled a young Foreman, Ali, Liston etc. All this propaganda about Holmes is mostly started by Holmes. He was a good champ who would box the ears off of Vitali most likely, but his jab wasn't as good as Ali's or Liston's. Larry Holmes wasn't as good as Larry Holmes thinks he was.
See? This is what I don't get. Someone who knows SO LITTLE about boxing that they don't even know that Ali was coming off an enforced three year layoff and was past his prime when he fought Frazier. If you don't know even basic boxing history, why the **** do you think you have to post?
Larry Holmes accomplished a lot, and I consider him a top 5 atg. But, even if he did receive the recognition he thinks he deserves, he'd probably find another reason to whine
I'm well aware of he circumstances of that fight. I'm also well aware that the Cult of Ali will always have an excuse for each fight he looks bad in.
