ESPN: Artur Beterbiev vs. Enrico Koelling & José Carlos Ramírez vs. Mike Reed RBR.

Round 1 Ramirez 10-9

Ramirez comes out very active, winging wild hooks to the body, Reed trying to find his rhythm shooting out his jab, Ramirez left hooks are tagging him in the ribs, he seems to hurt Reed momentarily, causing him to do a stutter step, but he recovers, Reed fires back a few straight lefts, but Ramirez the far more active accurate fighter.

 

I was annoyed by this card for my own reasons, I thought the Beterbiev match was going to be the main event after Ramirez-Reed and Besputin-Ruiz, but the Ramirez main was the main event, and Besputin was left off the card, with Beterbiev going head to head with the Jacobs match.

 

Round 2 Ramirez wins by KO

Ramirez comes out very aggressive, catches Reed early with a left hook uop top, he dances a little jig, and then covers up, Ramirez realizing he's hurt leaps on him and unleashes a blistering flurry, down goes Reed, he barely makes it to his feet, he's out on them, Ramirez jumps back on him, pins him to the ropes, landing bombs up top, Reed slums down and grabs his legs, that was another KD< Reiss incorrectly rules it a slip, Ramirez leaps right back on Reed, landing hook after hook, finally mercifully Reiss steps in and waves it off. Jose wins by KO.

 

Not sure what they were watching, Beterbiev didn't take it easy IMO, I think Koelling was just as tough as nails, even when Beterbiev started really pouring it on him in the last 3 rounds, he was standing up to Beterbiev's shots, he landed several vicious hooks and straight rights throughout the fight from rounds 1-9 that were harder than the ones he's put people to sleep with and Koelling took them well. Its either Beterbiev's power has ebbed, or what I suspect, Koelling's high guard helped him absorb some of the punishment, but ultimately he just has a damn impressive Chilemba like chin.
