Two completely irrelevant heavyweight match-ups, even if both for titles.

Neither deserves to be televised on anything other than basic cable anyway.

Not necessarily. While I like seeing Arreola/Stiverne on ESPN, neither HBO or Showtime had interest at the price they were requesting. Since the abomination that was Klitschko/Povetkin, HBO had no interest.

    LOL.
They are televising fights that no one wants to see, even for free.
    Nothing major in this announcement.

Disagree with OP, but if this is a start for bigger fights down the road, then that's a good thing.

I'm not a huge fan of either fight, but I think it's better for boxing if the biggest sports network in the US is carrying bouts like this instead of their going unaired or on a small network like Epix.

Yeah, this solution is preferable to either of them not being televised anywhere (like we have seen with many recent world HW title matches), but don't give ESPN props like they're picking up some major signification action that belongs on a premium cable giant...and stuff like this certainly won't make them a "major player" on par with those giants.

Crap like this should be kept off Showtime & HBO.

Why would you complain about free fights? :huh

These cards are better than most of the stuff HBO and Showtime have been giving us lately. Arreola-Stiverne is better than that in house crap Bob Arum charges people for.

    Show me where I did.

I am cautioning not to hand out too much praise to ESPN for showing the dregs of world championship boxing that HBO and Showtime rightfully wouldn't touch.

You realize with the money and resources ESPN has they could put both HBO and Showtime out of the Boxing business in a matter of months.

Yes because HBO gave us Terrance Crawford and such other great fights recently?

Both HBO and Showtime have delivered a lot of garbage cards the last 2 years.

    Heavyweight boxing is the worst.

The sport is best represented by televising literally anything but.

even though I'm a Wlad fan, I have to agree, the fight with Leapai is a total farce despite 3 major belts at stake, though you could make a case for Stiverne-Arreola II being aired on ShowTime or HBO, because the first fight was actually pretty decent by today's HW standards even if it had a clear winner
