before anyone gets carried away, everyone knew this would be a good fight and that Ortiz has a good chance of kicking Berto's ass.

the bottom line a good matchup for free....either of them fighting any other mediocre ho hum fighter would have drawn ****.

 

Good news for boxing.

 

First off, Boxing benefits when matches like these are made.

Secondly, Boxers personally benefit when they put on these types of performances.

I'm basically paying about 40 a month extra to get HBO and showtime, both good boxing channels, so I was lucky enough to have seen this fight, which was great. Not sure if it's FOTY but it's close. Unfortunately the action was a little uneven as most of the fireworks came near the early rounds..and the later rounds we're nearly as entertaining.

 

Ortiz is the man!!!

This just tells you that Ortiz has a huge Fan base than Berto.

Ortiz vs Pac would be an awesome fight.

 

atsch He is only 24, and he has huge star potential, only an idiot would put him in with Pac or Mayweather.

 

Richard Schaef is interested in putting him in with $. It wouldn't hurt him much if he loses to $ in a similar fashion that Marquez did. He'll get the benefit of the doubt because it was $ who did it.

its a smart move, if he loses he lost to atg and he can rebounce from it cause he is still young, if he wins he will be legendary and a huge star while still young.

 

He can also take a bad beating from either guy and not rebound at all. Being young doesn't guarntee a rebound. Can ruin one mentally, or worse, physically.

 

It was a great fight and lights year better than the hype Alexander/Bradley which I myself got caught up. Props to Ortiz for not taking easy fights and for Berto finishing the fight. Im kicking myself for not buying tickets for this event, I will be attending the FNF though this Friday at Mohegan

 

He's strong enough to bounce back from his Maidana disaster.

 

He's not in the same league as either Pac or Mayweather, so I don't see the point. He'd put up a good fight while it lasted, but he was certainly there to be hit. He's a level before those two, but that still makes him a great fighter. Interesting to note, I believe it was his first fight at 147 as he normally fights at 140, and he came into the fight weighting 161, so he was basically a middleweight fighting a jr middle. (Berto came in at 155lb)

 

This is how we build boxing. I had a friend over to watch the fight, then we watched JuanMa. Now, he wants to come by and watch the Mares vs. Agbeko fight next weekend.

There are great fights hapenning right now. If we do grassroots promotion by having our friends and family watch with us, we can help the sport grow.

 

Its worth the risk in my opinion, this isnt trinidad vs vargas stuff, floyd in the worst case scenario ud's him and pac stops him but I doubt they would ruin him.
