Eh, I guess, but this deep into a fight like this, when you're known to be a glass jawed entity, get dropped hard and rise up bambi-legged at your own risk...

It's Dimitrenko... Mr glass... his chin, heart and legs are all made of glass, don't really count, I was actually astonished Dimitrenko made it to the 9th

"Rules"? It has literally always been the ref's discretion to adjudicate whether you are in any condition to continue even if you beat the count. There is no such "rule" anywhere in boxing history that a ref has to let someone continue just because they beat the count; that is the bare minimum threshold of a hurdle you need to leap in order to not suffer a TKO stoppage, the other facet is that you need to present yourself as still lucid and 'ready to fight' in a manner that is persuasive enough for the ref to let you.

But the ref waved it off before Dimi even hit the ground.

I agree the shaky leg thing was pretty significant, but it was over before we even saw that.

It was a bad stoppage. But Jennings was going to win, and almost certainly very soon, so oh well.

the ref stopped it as soon as he hit the deck. from behind the action. he couldn't have seen that punch.

He swayed backward on already bent knees. If you're still lucid and intelligently defending yourself, then you're not going to find yourself in such a disastrously awkward position.

Dimitrenko was surprisingly eloquent there. He made far more sense than Wilder did today.

I think outside of very few occasions you should always apply the count. I mean, they are down.. it's not like they are taking more abuse at that moment and it's not like a 10 second delay to the medical staff jumping in the ring is going to make a bit of difference in anything. The rule is a 10 count, at least give the count.. let them have a chance to get it up.. if they are still out of it.. call it then.

The ref's job is to call it off whenever he deems one fighter unable to continue. Doesn't matter if the count is at 10, 5, or 1 - or if the fighter is still in midair falling.
