ESPN : Cleverly vs. Kovalev Done Deal for Aug. 17th, HBO.

This guy is clearly the best fighter Cleverly will have fought. Don't see how he will win a firefight with Kovalev, with Kovalev being just as busy and alot heavier handed. Being that that is Cleverly's style...............

I imagine we see a completely different outcome.

 

trust me, Clev is backing this dude up. he's not as good there. it would be silly to let Kovalev fight where he's strongest which is at range on the front foot.

 

yeah but Kovalev won't be as good on the back foot and fighting on the inside.

Cleverly will take it there. he always does. can't see him playing to Kovs strengths.

As for the fight, I see Cleverly's shaky defense being a problem for him. Again, plenty of credit to them for pursuing this fight. It should be a ripping affair.

guard nice and tight, head movement and backing the guy up using short punches on the inside. that's how i think it will go.

 

i agree that Clev needs to have a tighter guard and be smart in there. he can't leave himself wide open.

and i hope he doesn't showboat when he's on top. Kovalev has one punch power so he doesn't need to be ****ing around.
