Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but was just reading on another board the following:- Will ESPN be showing any of the big boxing bouts like Setanta used to that werent on Sky Box Office? ESPN are always interested in additional content ad are speaking to the Boxing market on a continual basis, as soon as any deals are agreed we will share this information The full Q and A is apparently on www.telegraph.co.uk but think the rest was all based around their MMA coverage. I guess it is what you would expect but thought I'd post it
Boys, all is not lost. I have ESPN in with my Virgin tv package and, although it isn't live, there is quite a substantial amount of boxing programming already on the channel. Give them time- they have just got on the scene. Personally, I think we can expect FNF live at the least in the future. I reckon they'll come good as they seem to be testing the water with a lot of 'classic' bouts ATM. :good.
Here's the full Q and A thingy :good http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/garethadavies/100001371/ufc-102-your-questioned-answered-by-espn/
My TV-guide is still all over the place. '2tall2slow' said it was something to do with teething problems in marrying up all the guides, apparently. The last FFN showed up at late notice as well, didn't it? Who knows:think.
I just checked ESPN's website and the Woods fight is not on the schedule. Must be something to do with that streaming site.
This is actually a little bit encouraging, i had written off any hopes of ESPN putting on some live boxing....
the fact they won't televise woods vs cloud when its a FNF card is really worrying, its not looking good ATM
Just noticed a clear difference here between the wording of the answers: Are ESPN going to be showing WEC or the Pride FC highlights when they begin to air? 'Again these are 2 separate organisations and at present there are no plans for ESPN to show WEC or Pride FC content on the channel.' Will ESPN be showing any of the big boxing bouts like Setanta used to that weren’t on Sky Box Office? 'ESPN are always interested in additional content ad are speaking to the Boxing market on a continual basis, as soon as any deals are agreed we will share this information.' :think Not all doom and gloom? The additional MMA answer seems to be a 'no chance' and the answer to the boxing one seems to be 'we'll see- we are exploring avenues'. :good.
just trying to make me feel better hey losfer....:good i choose to stay pessimistic so then i won't be too depressed when they break the bad news
ESPN need to sign something big with Golden Boy and Top Rank. That would give them access to an unlimited amount of top end boxing.
I agree with this, I want to see the big shows. I wouldnt stay up until 3 or 4 in the morning to watch the majority of the FNF's, not worth the sleep depravation and you can pick it up on your sky+ on channel 5 anyhow...... Side note, does anyone know if Sky are definitely showing the Mayweather-Marquez fight, I want to see that bill, it is a great card.
