I like Dejan quite a bit, but it seems he's being overrated a little as of now... :?

Handicappers are supposed to have at least some passing knowledge of who the major players are on the world scene, though. Not just the champs but all the movers and shakers in orbit around them (either directly in contention per sanctioning org rankings, or by way of reputation/h2h value/record since the latter don't always factor into the former as much as logic would dictate they should).

Shafikov was a 2-time world title challenger with a couple of very forgivable losses to much slicker and more proven/experienced boxers than Herring (a guy many had pegged as being among the likeliest of his US Olympic class to fizzle out and get derailed long before he graduated past 12-rounders..)

It is getting harder and harder to gift wrap opportunities to American boxers. There are good fighters from all over many of whom are learning from pro trainers and getting experience in strong gyms.

They had a good enough knowledge of the fighters not to make Shafikov a large underdog and to bring in money on both fighters accordingly, both whom saw value in their plays.

Bookies don't collect more money when the favorites win. :deal

Like I said before Shafikov would have to KO him twice, he KO'd him 3 times before it was official. He was out on his feet and could have been stopped a few times.

I only came in to see the last round (the last complete one, anyway, before they called it off - 9th, I think?) but yeah, it was a mismatch.
