I just sent an email to ESPN to ask them if they will be getting some boxing matches plus I recommended they take Bunce's Boxing Hour. I am not holding out for a reply, probably the person who is picking up these emails is a college interm or something??:nut
they will pick up anything that was deemed a success or value for money by Setanta, and anything that failed they will dump. We know that the boxing hour is a huge success but was the Live Boxing?
the live boxing did really well if tv rating is what you're talking about, in relation to the price they paid p4p boxing was setanta's most successful and only second to football in ratings highest audience figures: 1 million (england international) highest boxing ratings: 600,000 for calzaghe vs hopkins at 04:00
For what it's worth I've just emailed them about boxing coverage as well. I'm feeling more optimistic about seeing live boxing again as opposed to seeing the only channel that actually cares die with it. As for the Boxing Hour- WE NEED TO PETITION!!! When it comes to getting customers, companies will listen to anything.
This could be good for fight fans in a way we loose Setanta and get ESPN who could do a deal with the top American promoters for fights for UK and Ireland to show no more PPVs it could be a money earner for them.
I've emailed them about the boxing too. The more people that barrage them with interest the greater the chance someone will read it.
Are you sending your mails to This content is protected or do you have a more appropriate one? I'll draft a proper e-mail lobbying for UK boxing coverage when I get half an hour later today. Can some of you who have sent them please post your mails here. We will be better served with a focussed approach so lets pick the best points from everyone.
Does anyone have the results of the setanta 'why do you subscribe survey? from a few months ago? If boxing featured heavily (which I am sure it did) then we need to make sure ESPN know about it.
