ESPN finally takes on Sky

Its a big if but if all this takes off then a big positive for me is that ESPN will be broadcasting in the UK in HD

:good I sent them an email, too. That said, I think it's best to maybe wait a little while and see how they shape up- let's be fair, they've only just started it up. Once we have a clearer understanding of what their UK strategy is, I think we can really put some weight behind the demand for live boxing and obviously the Bunce hour.

I'm still optimistic that if Setanta do go under, ESPN may buy them on the cheap and just rebrand Setanta as a subsidary of ESPN. Who knows.

 

I used premierleague@espn and enthused that there is a huge fanbase for boxing in the UK and Ireland. I explained that I was a Sky and Setanta customer, and pointed out that Setanta offer better coverage for live boxing and that they have the excellent Bunce's Boxing Hour - which is currently the only televised boxing news programme that serves the UK and Irish market.

I finished by asking them to seize the initiative and become a dominant provider of top world and domestic live boxing and to bring Bunce's Boxing Hour to ESPN.

Keep sending the emails guys, it is better than doing nothing and hoping for the best.

UFC has cancelled their Setanta contract

Looks like ESPN might go for the UFC if they do it will be good news it will show there commitment to the fighting game.

 

Spare a thought for the 450 jobs at Setanta that are about to go, damn shame on a lot of levels.

 

Who plans on getting ESPN in if it is just those football matches, say for an extra tenner a month. I dont think I will bother, unless they get some boxing in.......

 

Yes it is. Its bad for us, much much much worse for them.

 

Those HD channels are such a rip-off, there isnt a great difference in picture, the HD sat boxes break down all the time and for an extra tenner a month it aint worth it. HD channels should be part of the package, Sky are such robbing *******s.
