He has to sell the opponent. Ortiz is not a big name, and not many are giving him a chance. As such, Mayweather needs to sell Ortiz as much as possible to maximize the revenue for this fight. He can't do that if he's trashing the guy. Now against guys like, Hoya, Hatton, and Mosley, he didn't need to sell those opponents. He could then build interest by talking all types of **** about them.
