Dan Raphael clearly explains his opinion that Wilder really wants the fight but AJ really does not…Uses facts to explain how obvious it is team AJ is only looking for an excuse to save face from this massive duck… It’s worth reading, great article…
The only bit i struggle to grasp is how so many seem to automatically forgive one fighter for a wasted and protected career with almost no effort to even start to unify a division, and at the same time hate on and not trust a word said by the other fighter who in a much shorter space of time has sought out and fought a much better set of fighters and has activly proved with his ACTIONS and not words that he wants to unify. Personalitys and Politics aside surely we should be judging on previous actions as a better indicator of future intent?
Still waiting for any actual facts or logic to dispute ESPN article…and yeah I’m having trouble with my browser updating with this site and missed the other thread on this… Sounds like AJ fans are good with the duck and pretending it’s Wilder’s fault…
Are you ****ing serious? Who fought Wlad? Who unified with Parker? Who waited 3 years to face a top 10 contender? And the Povetkin fight was a mandatory that Wilder was reluctant to take. Its not a fight he chased. Believe? This is all he is basing his article on. What he believes of because Wilder has been so vocal about the fight. That was a mandatory and Povetkins promoter won the purse bid! Wilder had no choice! Either go to Moscow to defend his belt, or give it up. (And it was a career high payday) Wtf? Dan is supposedly a professional writer. 8x career high best payday is no way "malpractice". But flat fees rarely work. Especially when PPV money is there for the taking. Wilders title is worth more than Parkers? Bigger fan base? Based on what? Parker was set for 2.4mil before Fury ran back home. Parker-Ruiz had a budget of 4mil(purses and staging costs). Wilders and Parkers ticket sales are similar. Only Parkers are more expensive. (Not sure how much of a difference there is between the gates) But yes, Wilder-Joshua is the bigger fight. But it doesn't mean that Wilder deserves a bigger cut. But he will most likely make more than Parker due to the bigger revenue. Complete BS article. Has either side started negotiations? So far we have had Wilder with the 50-50 and Joshua with the 12.5/50 mil offers. Only Wilder has been extremely vocal about the fight.
It's all a scripted dog and pony show. They obviously want to marinate/build this fight up as big as possible. When boxing promoters see that fans want a particular fight, they will dangle the carrot in front of our faces.
That's what happens when you want to duck someone. You fly overseas to meet with them to discuss an offer they've rejected. Eddie Hearn and AJ clearly don't want the fight!
And Wilder went, and Povetkin got caught cheating (apparently because he felt he needed to cheat to win) and the fight was cancelled. I saw an interview with Eddie Hearn the other day where he said if the Povetkin-Joshua fight is next, and if they (Povetkin's team) don't want to fight in the UK and it has to take place in Moscow (as in Povetkin's team win the purse bid), Joshua will consider dumping that belt. Because they are not fighting in Russia. *Starts at the 27 minute mark* This content is protected Wilder was supposed to fight Povetkin. The fight was cancelled when Povetkin tested positive. Wilder was supposed to fight Ortiz and the fight was cancelled when Ortiz tested positive. Wilder managed to later get Ortiz back in the ring and he stopped him. When Joshua dumps one of the belts because JOSHUA AND HEARN are afraid to fight in Moscow, here's hoping Wilder and Povetkin can finally get made ... this time for TWO belts.
