ESPN : Hopkins & Jones sign an agreement. Jones must first win bout in Australia.

I'm rooting for RJJ. I think Hopkins will win though. He's aged much better and is a much smarter fighter since they first fought. The Calzaghe fights for both guys should point to who will win. Hopkins did far better than RJJ, though Calzaghe had an off night and was by his standards curiously out of shape at Light-Heavy in his fight with Hopkins compared to the RJJ fight when he looked ripped and had grown into the weight.

Both these guys are still in tremendous shape for their age.

I dont see why people are making a big deal out of this fight. The ones who are ecstatic about it the most are the Hopkins fans who somehow believe this will even out the score from the first fight.

Jones took a beating from Calzaghe while Hopkins made it a competitive fight, Hopkins schooled the Middleweight champion of the world and Jones was staggered a couple of times against recycled contenders.This is a mismatch of a fight at this point in their careers.

Im convinced at this point Jones is only in it for the money and Hopkins just want some closure from the first RJJ loss.

 

i disagree boom_boom.....its the jones fans who are excited....the diehard jones fans cling to the legacy of roy like it's life or death....they think he has a chance against a 45 year old hopkins...and if he wins, it will be the biggest thing since sliced bread.....this fight should not happen imo...jones is a lucky man....

what does hopkins really have available to him? that has some "star" quality? adamek is busy....dawson is busy....the only options he had was sit out more on the sidelines or fight a guy with a big name in jones.....jones has been done on the big stage for awhile now....hopkins is still relevant.....hopkins did this because it makes good business sense....and if jones wins it can salvage his already damanged legacy....that's why this fight is happening...

 

Hopkins is in it for the cash and no one is more of a name than Jones ..This should do 500k in PPV's at least which is great for both guys at this stage of the game ..
