The constant criticism of Leow on ESB has always been bull****. It is nothing more than an extension of the Pavlik hater's repertoire, and nothing more.

Jack stayed on Kelly about the double jab for a couple of valid reasons. 1) Anytime KP got his double-jab/right hand mojo working he ended the fight shorty there after. 2) Pavlik has always had a tendency to eat counter right hands. One of the most effective ways to stop a counter-right is with a second jab.

Those who claim Leow never gave KP any other instructions actually know that they are full of ****. They CHOOSE to ignore the facts in favor of expounding on their maniacal anti-pavlik bias.

However, for whatever reason, Dunkin and Top Rank have periodically pressured Kelly to dump Jack right from the very beginning. Way back when he first signed with Dunkin and TR, both tried to get rid of Leow.

At this point it is pretty clear that Pavlik needs to change some things. Garcia is a good trainer, and moving to Oxnard will allow Pavlik to get away from the pressure he was under in Youngstown. In Y-Town Pav would always be the big fish in a small pond and be forced to live under a proverbial microscope. In Oxnard he'll just be some boxer that lives down the street.

There are contradictory reports on Leow/Garcia. Apparently Garcia knows nothing about it, and Kelly told Jack, "You're still my trainer" on the phone last night.

It would be a good idea for KP to go to Oxnard and work with Garcia with Jack there as assistant trainer.

This has "Arum"written all over it. It wouldn't be a bad idea for Kelly to open the purse strings a little and see how he might benefit with some alternate views though.

That might be what is going on would make some sence.

I can imagine Pavlik would not want to totally shut Lowe out of the money that he can generate down the road. Pavlik has made millions and Lowe helped him get to that point. Its not really fair to not give him some sort of percent as a trainer in some shape or form.

Does anyone besides me think Manny Steward would be a good fit for Kelly given Mannys strengths as a trainer, and Kellys strengths as a boxer?

Lots of people think he would be a good trainer for Pavlik but I am not so sure anymore. Steward has trained some great fighters, Klitschko, Lewis, Herns, Taylor, Holyfield but Pavlik is a different kind of Animal then those fighters imo.

Pavlik is one of the more relaxed stalkers I have ever seen. His punches don't even look that hard or even fast the way he throws them. But you watch the impacts and then count the punches he can land in a half second or less he is hitting hard and fast, its weird. Watch how fluidly Pavlik turns his hips with each punch compared to a boxer like Taylor.

I don't know if thats Lowes training or just Paviks natural way of doing things. Stewards good fighters he has trained are all kind of tight and have a lot of nervous energy and a lot different type of ability on their feet then Pavlik.

whatever conte and pavlik decide is his best weight...it won't be mw. and even if it was, no way williams' people put him in there with pavlik. guys who stand in front of pavlik and block punches with their face get knocked out. williams would get his lights turned out within 5 rounds.

that avy is gross btw

He had to try something, this is the last throw of the dice for him.

Personally was never a fan great come from behind win against Taylor but Jermaine should have never of let him off the hook when he had him hurt. If he had of finished him then I don't think we would of heard to much more from him.

    Technically flawed

Only reason Taylor knocked Pavlik down was because Pavlik was show boating. And Taylor never ment to let him off the hook he tried to finish Pavlik off with all his might but he could not land on him.

I dont coach boxing, so if somebody does, correct me if I'm wrong but I think theres like two different "coaching". The preparation and the 1 minute's advices.

A coach might be very good to prepare a boxer against another one in all the things from physical fitness to psychological stuff. But when you have to look a the fight and find a way to help your boxer in a couple of seconds that a different thing.

Plus, we dont know Pavlik. Is he the kind of guy that cant change his game plan during a fight for example? If not, there's just no way except cheer him up and go back to fundamentals.

Bottom line I think it's more complicated than what we can see. And the most important thing is: does Lowe and Pavlik trust each other? If one or both dont feel he trust the other, it's time to move on for the best.

So you are saying that Steward would be less successful with a boxer who is relaxed in the ring then he would with a guy that fights tight and has nervous energy?
