Quigley is meeting Rosario Cruz in the center of the ring, matching off their right hands in a mutual test of strength. A bit of a tug of war in the middle of the ring, both throwing straight punches and looking to dig in their spurs and not take a backward step. Rosario Cruz is working diligently, unafraid of Quigley's power and confident in his own, but getting hit with more educated fists. Rosario Cruz picking off what he can but Quigley mixing straights and hooks together nicely. Clinches pretty frequent, so far no head butts to be concerned about. Ref pries them loose and they go at it again, rinse & repeat.

Round 2

Rosario Cruz is leading with a left hook for some reason, terrible idea. Quigley just cruising along, casually planting his feet after backing up (which he's now willing to do, unlike the 1st) and sizing Rosario Cruz up for counter straight combos. Rosario Cruz is caught with a right hand while pressing Quigley into the ropes and knocked down but the ref deems it a slip. Bernard Hopkins and Bernardo Osuna want to see a replay later to make a determination, as do I. Rosario Cruz is continuing to lead with very wide or lunging shots, and getting countered, inexplicably.

El Duro himself looked confused at the ref not giving him a count.

 

Round 3

Rosario Cruz is keeping his right glove up by his jaw and floating the left a few inches out from his peach-fuzz soul-patch, wavering in the air to either catch the Quigley jab or shoot a quick one if he catches his man out of position during a swivel. Quigley has started to double up the jab and put a right cross behind it, setting a pace Rosario Cruz balks at, surrendering real estate and blocking whenever possible.

Rosario Cruz is throwing with gusto, but almost everything is blocked. Quigley stuck in one gear, jabbing, circling, 1-1-2ing, and scuffing his feet straight back to lure Rosario Cruz into ambushes, pivoting off the ropes, landing a two-piece, and restarting. Getting very dull.
