ESPN P4P rankings updated (Dan Rafael) 1. Mayweather 2. Ward 3. Martinez 4. Pacquaio 5. Marquez 6. Wladamir 7. Donaire 8. Bradley 9. Vitali 10. Cotto http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8426846/ranking-world-top-pound-pound-boxers
I understand you guys want to put Marquez ahead of Pac because of the last fight between them, but Pac is a better pound for pound fighter. Marquez couldn't have beaten Cotto, DLH, Margarito, etc.. Even today I think Pac has potential to beat more solid fighters at 140-147 than Marquez.
Pac has been at the same weight class for 3 years now, though. JMM beat him H2H, which is quite telling. It is not as though Marquez wasn't already on everyones' P4P top 10 entering their third fight. I think you are almost certainly contradicting oneself to list Pac ahead of Marquez. That would be like claiming Paul Williams deserved higher placement than Sergio after his loss in the 2nd fight on the grounds that Paul can still fight in 3 divisions, won their first fight, and was ranked higher than Sergio entering the fight.
you think so? I like Moreno, but I'm just waiting to put him up there right now, same with Rigo. Mares has a really good resume and is undefeated not to say Moreno doesn't have one.
Is there a bit of a double standard going on? Ward seems to be getting his high spot because of recent performances, Pacquaio seems to be suffering from his relatively weaker recent performances but by that criteria should Mayweather be up there so high too? I have Mayweather #1 on my list but because I take past fights more into account not just recent ones.
Also, I think Pacquaio has the deeper resume than Marquez and don't subscribe to the theory that Marquez beat Pacquaio so he has to be above him in the P4P rankings. For example, Tunney isn't ranked above Greb even though he beat him something like 4 out of 5 times. A lot will of course depend on the outcome of their upcoming fight.
