As expected Federico Flores has gassed out and Charlo has come back and taken the last 4 rounds IMO. We're in round 8 and Charlo has managed to heat up and is in complete control. Flores has stopped punching and is holding on as Charlo lets go with the big punches. Charlo has a good right hand and he uses it well. 5-2 for Charlo.
Bull**** stoppage by Nico Perez. Flores and Charlo are throwing punches and going at it nose to nose. Flores gets caught and looses his mouth piece on the punch. He stood up and was still trading with Charlo when the referee jumped in.
A big right cross knocks the mouthpiece out and Flores takes a double step. As soon as he takes the double step, The referee got into what I consider "stoppage position." Charlo comes in and we get some infighting and the fight is stopped. Nico Perez says that he was out but I don't know.
I almost feel bad for the referee. The fight was basically academic at that point, though Flores was definitely throwing and could possibly have done something, but he is going to get some **** for this.
I'm not one to bash the ref's because you know WHY they're doing it (the safety of the fighters) but in an instance like that, you have to at least let SOMETHING happen before you stop the fight. He could've gotten knocked down or the least.
Discussion about Wladimir-Ruslan now. Flores said Wlad had an oustanding game plan and he continually put Chagaev in a good position to land damage. Flores says Chagaev was moving the wrong way into Wlad's power. Brian Kenny says that this helps put the division into focus. Man that's a sad top 10. Wladimir Klitschko is making it look easy says Flores. Flores says Haye is the only fighter that could potentially push Wlad. "Who else could you rather see Wladimir fight that you could say who else can be a good fight but Haye?" ESPN.com poll as to who they'd rather see Wlad fight and the order goes Vitali-Haye-Arreola-Valuev and then Chambers.
Teddy Atlas says the landscape in the HW divsion is very open and telling. He said Klitschko does a good job against these heavies and what Klitschko does well is that he controls range. He has the right guys in front of him and he makes them pay for real estate. Says he has a nice straight right hand and he "grabs you like a date." Teddy Atlas is going to work with Povetkin next week to train him for a two week "trial period." Going to say if he's coachable and whether he can pick up certain things. Says he'll go out to Moscow for 10 days training every day. He's asked about his future vs Wlad and Atlas completely side steps in. Povs is ****ED now.
Wilder fight up now. Says he's working on speed, movement, foot work, speed (he said it twice and the jab. Says he believes you can always work on the jab and do better with it. He's building a good fan base as the crowd is very pro-Wilder.
Wilder comes out and throws a quick jab at Arnold. Arnold trying to jab but Wilder is too fast. Wilder just letting his hands go on Arnold who has his head down and is swinging wildly. Wilder has LONG arms it seems like they come outta left field. Atlas says Arnold is a tough man contest vet. Nice. Wilder throws a wild right hand that misses. Wilder looking calm and he moves very well. NICE RIGHT HAND and Arnold is ****ing DOWN! GAME OVER!
