HBO would love that bout. I hope Mosley decides to do it. It wouldn't be for the Ring title, but the winner would have to considered the de facto champion.
Danny Jacobs says he doesn't want to think of himself as a power puncher because then he'll get into the habit of throwing power punches and looking for the KO. He prefers to be a speed fighter and will continue to use an amateur style. Now Teddy Atlas and his man servant Saul are playing around on jet fighters for the fight plan.
Teddy needs to go. The show would be 1000x better without him, and the few times a year he misses a show, it's better.. remember when Nate was on.. even he was better. ****, put BJ down with Tess.. BJ is a better commentator than a fighter.
Round 1 begins with Walton and Jacobs sort of wrestling. Walton and Jacobs are holding and hitting. Walton is too short and throws wild punches as Jacobs is using his effective head movement to control things. Jacobs has a quick jab and Walton is a sucker for it every time. Walton popped with a three punch combo as Jacobs is in control. Jacobs knocking Walton around with quick punches and controlling distance and the pace. Jacobs is just built like a fighter, he's got pretty much prototype everything except the ears. I wish Jacobs would sit down on his punches more, he doesn't exactly use his power to his advantage. He also needs to not be so willing to clinch. What's with that?
A pretty evenly paced round in which Jacobs effectively controlled things. The difference in height and handspeed will likely be decisive. 10-9 Jacobs
An early flash knockdown pretty much determines the outcome of the round. Jacobs continue to pump an impressive jab and straight right, delivering his payload all over the face of Walton. 20-17 Jacobs
DOWN goes Walton with a pseudo push/punch combo. Jacobs lands with one hand and pushes with the other. If it's official then it's official eh. Jacobs has a quickie jab and his hook isn't as strong as it should be right now. Jacobs moves effortlessly though and has a good right hand. Jacobs landing at will now as Walton is trying to get him into a brawl. Jacobs slapping more than punching as Walton is squared up and ready to get nicked. Walton really needs to let his hands go if he wants to be able to do anything. Jacobs' combination punching is very amateurish, it's a big difference from he when he started as a pro fighter. He has tremendous power but he seems to be going back to the amateur way of fighting. Jacobs absolutely owned that round. 10-8
I guess in terms of his other opponents it is. I'd say Mike Walker was a tougher opponent than Walton. I gotta say Jacobs is doing a good job here taking what Walton gives him.
More of the same in round 3. To put it simply when Jacobs wants to fight, he controls the fight. When Jacobs wants to hold, he'll hold on and slow Walton down even more. Jacobs is just too big for Walton and he looks set to just fight his fight. I'd love to see Danny bring back the power but he looks to be settling into this...amateurish style.
Paul Spadafora highlights from his last fight. BJ Flores says he has excellent hand speed and he's got great skills. Says we'll have to see how he comes back from such a long layoff.
