Walker was much better. This guy is a little preschooler in comparison. Mismatch thus far. By the way, I just noticed this is a middleweight fight. Did jacobs move up or am I trippin?
I agree, I would like to see him sit down more. By the way, it's another Jacobs round. Teddy is absolutely right in his analogy about charging for real estate. Jacobs is doing a good job of making Walton close distance and pay for it. 40-35 Jacobs
Reading a Jacobs quote about how he whooped Walton in sparring and that Walton needs to train harder. They discuss whether it's cocky or confident and both agree it's just confident. Round 4 Jacobs showing versatility and landing some BRUTAL BRUTAL body punches on Walton. Walton ducks into an uppercut from Jacobs that rocks his head. Credit to Jacobs as he's trying to put on a show in a different style than usual. Walton is becoming a big target now as Jacobs is just letting them go with flashy combinations. He needs to sit on one of those punches and put Walton down. He can do it and he should do it.
I've not been able to tune in to the fight unfortunately, but perhaps its just improvements in Jacobs?
Jacobs starting to pitty pat upstairs but still landing heavy to the body. Punchstats so far a ridiculous landslide for jacobs.
Jacobs comes on real strong in the last minute. It's looking like the referee might stop it if this keeps up for another round. Jacobs needs to keep the foot on the pedal, but he is cut. 50-44 Jacobs
Jacobs looks...different. Not sure if it's an improvement or just a new style. He looks less powerful, more active and more confident in his jab. His punches are less one punch thunder and more a flurry of activity. He cuts off the distance and is throwing more quick punches determined to score points than to knock the guy out. Throwing a lot of punches and mixing them up better than before. He seems more determined to let a long beating go on than to end this fight. I wonder if Jacobs is trying to prove a point here. He made it a point to say that he wasn't trying to be a power puncher and that he wanted to use his amateur style to his advantage. I'm not sure if he wants to continue that or if he's just looking at this opponent differently.
Ref is looking to potentially stop it as Jacobs is battering Walton around the ring. Jacobs pushes Walton with every jab and every right hand. his left is working as well. His punches to the body are more thunderous than the head shots. Jacobs is cut and seems to be favoring his eyes. Teddy Atlas makes some ridiculous analogy about the ocean and the wave and WHAT THE **** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TEDDY?! Jacobs lands a snapping right hook on Walton and Walton didn't like that. Every body punch brings a whimper from Walton. BIG LEFT STRAIGHT snaps Walton's head back. More brutal target practice.
Atlas talking about Snoop Dogg. Called him Snoopy. More Fight Night shilling. I gotta say I think fighting a tough dude like Mike Walker has made Jacobs tougher. He doesn't seem bothered when Walton does some rough house tactics and the cut isn't in a good place but he's handling it. Jacobs relies too much on his head movement and not on actually blocking punches. Not a problem YET but at some point it's going to become an issue. Teddy is back on analogies, this one about being like an NFL quarterback and throwing punches where the guy will be and not where he is now. Jacobs has thrown just about every punch in the book and his body work has been stellar this round. The only punch he didn't throw was that behind the back during a clinch punch that Sweet Pea used on occasion.
JAcobs is REALLY powdering Walton out but he needs to use his power and put him down. Walton is just getting POUNDED and he gives up on the ropes. TKO stoppage for Jacobs. What a weird sort of fight. Danny Jacobs stops a guy whose never been stopped but only manages one knock down against a guy who had been down 8 times before. It's like his new style is a Paul Williams circa 2005-2007 clone. Oscar and Danny Jacobs talking now. Danny Jacobs tells Oscar that he needs to set him up so he can have a "Fight Of The Year on HBO." Funny dude. Jacobs tells Walton we could've just fought in NY and not have to go to the desert. Funny.
