And he's not even the best Olympian in this era.

    That title goes to Bolt.

because he isn't. His overall body of work from rookie year until the last year he laced up his shoes in 2003, then yes, I believe he's the best athlete of all time. But his run from 95-98, while great, isn't better than Nadal's 14 slams (since you like Nadal I'll use him). Yes he was 40 and was dropping 40 on the league which proves his greatness BUT that's not any more jaw dropping than say Rossi winning Qatar just this past Sunday against the young guns in MotoGP.

Champions League is more competitive and prestigious than the World Cup nowadays

Indeed, but Kevin McHale was ruthless that night as well. :yep

He's #2 because of the injuries sustained by the other top players. Murray's back, Nadal's knees, etc.

You guys are too stuck in the past. He's done some great things but Fed has already been overtaken imo by Nadal.

What Nadal did post 2008 has been nothing of spectacular. Unbelievable.

What he has done at Roland Garros will probably never be replicated again.

If Nadal gets a few more slams in, there will be 0 discussion whatsoever. 0.

Prestigious? It's the World Cup and it's not even close.

His run from 95-98 is spectacular, after 18 months of not playing ball? Incredible.

This was also when the present stars started coming in the league

    1. Shaq
    2. Kobe
    3. Duncan

    and several others.

You have to consider the reasons why this run was so historic.

Let's not forget the 72-10 season in 96, a record which has not even been close to being surpassed even to this day.

what Rog did in 2004-2007 was nothing short of spectacular. Unbelievable. I can do that too man.

I feel like his consistency is being overlooked here. 10 straight GS finals and 23 straight GS semis is insane.

Yes Nadal's injuries has hindered him and a lot of that has to do with his playstyle I think. You can't simply sweep his injury aside..it's part of him.

Like in racing, in order to finish first, first you gotta finish. Same thing with tennis. He has to be there to win more slams. That's his fault and no one else's when he can't be present.

He's still winning slams despite those injuries. That's incredible. Has to be considered as well.

The fact that he can continue winning slams despite having "Knees worse than Federer" is astonishing.

Imagine him winning a few more with "Knees worse than Fed's"

    :rofl

    How incredible would that be?

How can you take that away from him.

    1. Winning 18-19 slams despite the fact that in the latter part of his career, he's been plagued with crazy injuries

    2. Having a winning record against every top professional in the game.

    3. 23-10 against the #2 (Federer), someone who was considered GOAT before

    4. Roland Garros dominance, complete dominance.

alright, I'll give you that. To the masses, perhaps the WC will always be the most prestigious.

but UCL is the more competitive event.

Bolt is phenomenal no doubt, but you can't see past your prejudices.

The fact that you're referring to the sport as "Soccer" shows me that you don't really know too much about it either. :yep

    Destroyed?
