Roy Jones. Any other choice doesn't make sense. Don't even try to argue, 'cause someone that struggles with guys like J.L. Castillo and Oscar in their prime ain't touchin' Roy Jones. Say they were the same size. Prime Jones beats even a middleweight/light heavyweight version of prime Floyd like a dog.

RJJ at his absolute peak is better than peak PBF however RJJ hurt his legacy by hanging around too long. If he had retired after he beat Ruiz he probably would be seen as greater but he didn't.

I guess he's paying his peers to because guys like Hopkins, Froch, Paulie, Mikey Garcia Ward and loads of others are saying he's the best.

They're so bitter that Floyd is far and away the greatest of his era

I see the difficulty ESPN would create for both themselves and for the sport of boxing by calling Jones the greatest when today he is a classic example of the former champ who just refuses to let go, even when he's completely past prime and putting himself in danger by continuing to fight.
Nonetheless, that doesn't change the fact that, like you said, prime Jones was better than prime Floyd.

You can put asterisks beside any fighter's resume really if you have an agenda.

I gotta say I disagree with the notion of Roy hurting his legacy. Just because he's losing now doesn't (and shouldn't) take away from what he did in his prime.

It's funny to me. Floyd is the greatest of his era hands down. But as an aside, Roy and Hopkins, Holyfield etc. aren't REALLY Floyd's era.

Floyd had his first fight in what, '97? it's kinda hazy.

Fight of the year doesn't make you a great fighter! Rafael Marquez, Isreal Vasquez, Gatti, Ward, Castillo, and Corrales would all be on this list if that were tha case. Floyd was never in a knock down drag out fight, He was too defensive minded and smart to get caught up like that. It's a shame though, I would have like to see how he would have reacted in a fight like that!
