    Round 2

More terrible jabs from Licona. Ramírez is zooming to his left and slashing down at the face with counter left hooks from above, then quickly sidestepping to his right while uncorking the straight right cross to cover his resetting maneuvers to resume circling at medium-long range. Licona is starting to back up now as Ramírez flicks a double jab at the body, tickling Licona's navel, and lets a right hand sail up top. Licona is feinting with the right hand from up by his throat but not actually firing as Licona doesn't take his bait, continuing to move laterally in a controlled manner instead of being scared into bolting straight backward. Nice overhand rights by Ramírez falling in behind a downward-sloping poke-jab at the body. Wavy double left hook slashed lightly up top by Ramírez to keep Licona honest in the final moments.

    10-9 Ramírez

    20-18 Ramírez

Anybody else seeing the house fighter look totally clumsy and ineffective against the guy that was brought in to pad his record?

You wouldn't guess Ramírez & Licona had the respective 10-3 & 12-0 records if you hadn't caught the introductions...

    Round 3

Ramírez is starting to dribble his jab off the face of Licona in triplicate, catching him blundering in with no plan. Still no fresh ideas from Licona, who bounces in place before dashing forward, trying a lazy jab, which lo & behold continues to not work against Ramírez's in-&-out and side-to-side movement. Ramírez, however, is content to point-score and flit about, never putting together more than a three-piece and never pressing the attack longer than momentarily.

    10-9 Ramírez

    Round 4

Ramírez is starting to look a bit fatigued now, still throwing his lumpy double-jab (sometimes high, sometimes low) and falling in with his shoulders & head lowered as he launches an overhand right - but nothing is making contact. Licona is being more cautious now. Licona sweeping out short-arc hooks (more like hybrid jabs) from long range, and himself not landing, either. Ramírez doing lots of shoulder-sinking and melting to either side, dipping & weaving under the jabs of Licona. Attempted bowling right hand on the body from Licona but Ramírez stuffs it by simply jumping into him and letting his lower hip absorb the impact of Licona's fist before it can even reach the deepest point of the pendulum. Flurry by Ramírez.

    Round 5

Ramírez is running in and missing his sandbag-hurling right hands up top. Licona is also missing his jabs and 1-2s, having a hard time dialing in his aim. Ramírez is tired and falling in with increasingly greater preponderance of false-flag attacks, even his overhand rights having not the same gusto as in the first half of this contest, themselves serving more as feints than anything to allow Ramírez to dive inside and send Licona scampering off to buy Ramírez a few more seconds to stall without having to worry about exchanging fire up close. Licona begins to land some of his 1-2s and back Ramírez up for stretches. Attempted 1-1-2 on the chest by Ramírez but Licona just positions his arms in the way to catch & push back, sending Ramírez involuntarily cantering outside like a negatively polarized magnet.

    10-9 Licona

    49-46 Ramírez

Wondering when Lincona is going to start doing something in this fight to justify his win on the scorecards.

    Round 6

Ramírez is drifting clockwise and giving Licona wider a berth than he needs to considering their mutual low work rate and the fact that neither has so much as gotten the other's attention with any single blow. Licona is pressing the advantage, slightly less tired, pushing ahead with his 1-2. Most of the right hands are banging into the left shoulder of Ramírez, which doesn't count for scoring purposes but will help deaden that already energy-sapped arm, making it more difficult to hold up... Licona might have a slightly higher ring IQ than previously believed. Ramírez is slashing with desperate left hooks up top darting forward in sudden ambushes to halt Licona's advance, then continuing to retreat.

    10-9 Licona

    58-56 Ramírez

    Round 7

Ramírez is jabbing the body and stepping left. High jabs by Licona, blocked. Right hands at the chest from Licona, dropped from up by his own brow - also blocked. Light triple jab by Ramírez while scooting to his left rapidly to make Licona twirl just to face up to him - all falling short. A minute and fifteen seconds in and nobody has scored anything cleanly. Ramírez is doubling his jab on the belt line while turning Licona, managing to be the busier man in this session. Licona's turn now to feel logy and punch as though underwater. Licona's jab back to badly missing as in the opening few rounds. Ramírez getting bold now, doubling a jab low and then flying in with a right hand grazing the forehead as Licona steps quickly back. Ramírez busily plugs away on the body with straights diving in from outside.

    10-9 Ramírez

    68-65 Ramírez
