Round 3

Mosquera is checking the Ellis jab with his right glove and ducking the right hand coming in. Ellis landing a trickle of pot shots here and there but not dropping anchor for too long and finding Mosquera fairly responsible on defense. Mosquera is caught by a wide left hook on the lumbar while twisting his way inside, bending down and perhaps loading up on a left uppercut that was never to be. Mosquera is keeping up a high guard and Ellis is just carving through it with his fast thumb-pointed-skyward jab working like a scalpel. Mosquera is landing some incidental body shots against the ropes but Ellis doing a good job keeping things at his preferred range, grabbing and spinning out when necessary. Flurries off the jab by Ellis, keeping Mosquera nearly altogether shut down as he marches forth without punching.

Round 4

Mosquera is finding himself continuously handcuffed on the inside by Ellis' massive edge in speed as well as his proclivity toward clinching in a timely manner as soon as it seems Mosquera is on the verge of revving up for something big. Ellis is throwing left hooks and right uppercuts either in combination or solo at close range from an otherwise tightly assembled guard with a little sway-back move, causing Mosquera to feel emboldened to start chucking leather but with the Panamanian always getting the worst of these exchanges. Ellis is flicking long pot shot jabs from the hip on the outside up to Mosquera's chin.

Round 5

Mosquera is throwing left hooks at the jawline and then letting his arms drape over the biceps of Mosquera, squeezing him in place, then dreideling him away or hugging tight and wrenching him in the pocket to sap his strength a little before quickly light-footing away laterally. Ellis mastering hit and don't get hit but not making this a terrifically fun watch. Mosquera for his part really doing nothing to improve matters, working the body a bit when close enough to do so but not really coming up with any solutions to Ellis' puzzle. Double sweeping right hook downstairs by Mosquera, elbow-blocked with a chicken-wing move by Ellis.

Round 6

Mosquera is sashaying inside on stiff-looking and rickety legs, pawing with the right jab. Ellis by contrast is ducking and rising, plenty of grease on his joints in comparison, keeping the fight on a fixed carousel wheel, swiping at the body with hooks and jabbing up top. Low blow, time out for Mosquera to recover. Ellis given a stern warning rather than a point deduction, replay shows this is fair; clearly too low but also clearly incidental uppercut on the gonads. Time in. Mosquera is walking Ellis down but still not punching much except for some ill-aimed swats at the body. Ellis now getting a little cocky, throwing right hands from outside jumping in as his back scrapes the ropes, missing, clinching, releasing and starting over.

I'm wondering if Mosquera was approached by some dark figure at the mouth of some dark Cancún alley who convinced him to sell a pint of plasma or two en route to Grand Oasis Arena tonight.

Or maybe he met a thirsty Mexican ring-rat yesterday at the weigh-in and he snuck in a nooner before work.

Either way, something is off. Some fluids are missing here.
