    Round 7

Mosquera is starting to get tagged by jabs and hooks wading in. Mosquera's guard being split apart every time he takes a step, but he seems to not mind. Just a few pecks and sweeping combos downstairs by Mosquera, none of them gaining purchase. Ellis is letting his shots go mostly in twos now, but is getting sloppy and his balance is suffering as he lets the hands fly before fully thinking out his next move or keeping his feet in tune with the machinations of his upper extremities. And on cue, down goes Ellis - slip while landing a flurry on Mosquera while tiptoeing rapidly around him.

    10-9 Ellis

    70-63 Ellis

    Round 8

Mosquera is literally knocking on the door with his right fist, coming down like a gavel on the guard of Ellis, just a ruse as he swivels the left side of his body inside with an uppercut on the belt line. Ellis able to roll with it by himself swerving left, or moving in to smother Mosquera and tie him up. Ellis once he gets separation is paddle-balling the left jab off the face of Mosquera. Ellis is flurrying, clinching, rinse & repeat. Mosquera just stumbling into him, couldn't be more of a willing practice dummy on wheels.

    10-9 Ellis

    80-72 Ellis

I was thinking this was Vincente Mosquera, the dude who almost folded Valero all them years ago.

So watching this it strikes me that Ellis might be lacking in both serious power and killer instinct - which begs the question, how trash are the baker's dozen worth of guys he kayoed in his 19 wins to date? :dunno

Nah. This one never was as good as that Mosquera, but he still used to be a lot better than what he's showing us here tonight.

Yeah, celebrate the point deduction to show everyone how hurt you were.

His punches remind me of the fights Shaq had with Mosley and DLH. Feather dusting.

    Round 9

Mosquera is marching forward, arms up, elbows nearly to his nipples until he gets inside to arch his back and hurl uppercuts like ketelbells at the body. Ellis responds in kind, shoeshining & uppercutting the body - and strays low again. He gets docked a point this time. Mosquera wasn't hurt, but the ref is flexing his authority because he already warned Ellis. Flurries & clinches by Ellis. Nothing from Mosquera except playing into Ellis' hands, whatever he may be doing in any given moment.

    9-9 Ellis

    89-81 Ellis

Punches landed through nine, per ESPN:

    181-109 in favor of Ellis.

I think even that might be giving Mosquera credit for too many connects; disparity in reality is probably wider (but 90% of Ellis' punches are some pussy taps)
