ESPN talking to Hayemaker

Doesn't ESPN have a deal with Showtime where they show delayed showtime fights?
I doutb this will happen unless this deal is exclusive to the ESPN UK and I doubt this would even be possible.

 

I honestly don't know, mate. Personally, I think ESPN were testing the water when they showed the Showtime card the other day and apparently the viewing figures were quite high so hopefully we'll see more. I hope they start televising FFN live and secure the Top Rank deal as well. As for the super 6, I'm not sure if promoters' TV contracts will take precedence or whether Showtime will provide one feed.:think

 

The promoter of the fighterss owen the rights to tv deals in there respective countires. So Sauerland did a deal in denmark and germany, and hennesey will do a deal in UK.

ESPN has enough money to buy SKY and dominate the UK market, their entry into the UK market is to scope the product and decide whether they want it or not.

 

As someone stated before, they see Sky as a 'partner' rather than a 'competitor', unfortunately. I think it was Dan-b who posted a rundown of all the various parent companies involved and, if you go far enough back, you realise they are effectively sister companies:-(.

I know that ESPN already owns part of Sky, not new news. However, ESPN could own all of Sky and go from there.

The 9 pound a month extra deal that they are offering is designed to use in the negotiating tactics to get sky on the cheap in 2 years time. ESPN have made a very clever move to get sky on the cheap.

think any challange to sky is good for the sport cant wait til haye fight.. dont think hennessey has much fighters anymore froch/murry/barker and word on street is that murry going with hatton when contract runs out

Looking at the schedule, 5 days this week there is at least one boxing show on ESPN. Hopefully we'll see more live shows.

ESPN does not 'own part of sky'. Their parent companies, News Corp (Murdoch, Sky) and Disney (ESPN) have various strategic alliances in different markets but their ownership is completely different.

When it suits them both, as in this case, they will get in bed together.
