Stop with the BoxRec analysis - or at least be accurate with it. He weighed 129lb officially two fights ago. He spent a long time campaigning at super feather and missed weight a few times (discipline issues) but his frame is that of a natural feather and in the ring, on fight night, he was always clearly the smaller guy in with top 130lbers. Ray on the other hand never had a lightweight fight in which he didn't quite obviously dwarf his opponent (even if they were big, natural lightweights themselves).

This is his 3rd ever fight that was scheduled for lightweight (not a matter of either him or his opponent missing the SFW limit) and the previous two were against journeymen with double-digit losses, and not with dangerous contenders with monstrous size advantages. Enough with the spin doctoring, really just stop it. That's fine if you like Ray and want to stand by his gutsy showings in his career and the bad luck that has befallen him at times, but not defend this BS. It was a ridiculous size mismatch. Vasquez is a million times more skilled than Beltran. He just lost (and got beat up, and perhaps copped a little brain damage) because of size, and that isn't up to debate.

Poor kid is a damn fine boxer and deserves better than being passed around like a cheap whore by unscrupulous promoters. He never had any business competing at lightweight, and certainly not OFF A THIRTEEN MONTH LAYOFF TAKING ON A BRUISER LIKE RAY WITH NO TUNEUP HAVING NEVER BEEN IN WITH ANYONE REMOTELY GOOD AT THE WEIGHT.

Herrera out-hustled JSK in a lot of rounds and did a lot of good work off the back foot. Vasquez used a similar approach to bag a few rounds, too.

The swelling around his eyes was caused by punches. Even without the cut, Beltran was lumped up a bit.

Yeah but JSK won more clear round (4) find it quite absurd that the best he could get was a draw, while two judges gave Herrera all of the swing(ish) rounds.

 

Boy I can't wait to see what Loma's YouTube haters will say about the ratings for this, cause you know they're gonna be **** after this cluster**** tonight. I wonder how they will spin it, I'm sure nothing will be mentioned about the NFL HOF BS preempting almost the whole show.
