People don't get that. The commetators like Lampley and Kellerman make more than the fighters because they do twenty shows a year. Michael Buffer will do 100 gigs a year with his announcing job. Then everyone rings their hands about the poor fighters working twice a year not making enough money. There's an easy solution to that. Work more, get paid more. Fighters used to get in the ring a dozen times a year.

 

So they're saying this was an opponent change on 3 days' notice (but Falcão and Gonzo were both already in or done w/ full camps) - anybody know who each was supposed to have fought?

 

A dozen? Back in the primitive barnstorming days, early gloved and on through bare knuckle era, you were expected to clock in multiple times per month.

Falcão is just stalking and taking his time, measuring with the right jab and then slicing wide across the gap with his left, grazing the chin of Gonzo. More body shots by Falcão when Gonzo raises his guard to protect his face. Gonzo putting up the earmuffs and circling away, using the full ring, snaking out a few long body pokes when he gets a rare moment without Falcão breathing down his neck with calculated pressure.

You know in a thread the other day about how Lomachenko should fight four times a year, somebody was trying to tell me that you can't do more than three fights a year because fights take forever to sign and train for. Meanwhile, we got fighters dropping out at the last minute for fights and new ones popping in to take their place all the time. Tinman, I think it was Tinman, was saying that fighters ought to just get dates on a calendar and fill them in with opponents as they can.
