Watching the card now. This Mad Max guy looks impressive. You can see he tries to model of style on Loma.

Bit of a shoe shiner , but he looks good to me , especially for a who whose only had 8 fights.

I'm not sure they try to model it on Loma, they probably take a couple of elements that Loma in particular has, but Besputin fights like Loma, it seems to be the new style?

You're not concerned with the open gloved slapping technique? Or the fact that while he does ape Lomachenko's style defensively, this Marrufo goon was able to cleanly tag him pretty much nonstop?

You can't be a feather-fisted guy that also gets hit a lot, unless you have some other REALLY special qualities going for you to compensate (like Malignaggi with his speed & chin)

You didn't think he had good rhythm and a good uppercut and right hand? He turned over a nice straight right hand when he wasn't peppering hooking slaps to body and head.
Ive seen a lot more underdeveloped 8 fight novices in the past.

Sorry. Not even a fan of gervonta but not everyone starts their professional career around 30 years of age like most EE's. Typically you start it around 20 like Gervonta Davis. Canelo even before 25 did more than GGG or any of these guys the majority of people here bandwagon.

I don't fault a young fighter having a young fighters resume lmao.

When you're 35 like GGG and you have a 24 year old's resume, that's when my eyebrows raise.

Yes.. You don't like EE's that's been established and has been common knowledge for quite some time now, anything else you want to get off your chest?

Exactly...you provided an example at the end that shows age is not a proof that you'll make a great pro. Zhou Shiming, a GOAT level amateur turned pro at an older age and is getting beat, same with Egor Mekhontsev.
Wilfried Benitez won a world title at 17, Mayweatehr and Pacquiao I think were in their teens, Naoya Inoue was 19, MANY who were in their early 20's.
I would RETURN to being a fan of Gervonta if he manned up and unified OR at least vacated his belt to let the men fight. If you are a champion, that's a responsibility.
You can't waste that responsibility in an era where you're fighting in a quasi-weight class of 130 which is traditionally within the Lightweight limit, thus there's 8 belts (4 at 130, 4 at 135) + 80 'ranked contenders' - people that Lomachenko could beat one handed, with a focus on showboating and not actually implementing the gameplan properly. That's a joke.

You're asking a lot from @TheyDontBoxNoMore7 - To use some common sense, logic and to actually ponder before making a post! That's the thing though... He just wanted to spew his usual garbage regarding Lomachenko, GGG and other EE fighters - and needed an excuse to do so. Their having long amateur careers and starting late was the best thing he could come up with! Just when you think he can't possibly sink any lower...

I agree. You're one of the few that can atleast be consistent on this subject. You don't fully dick ride Loma and give him every pass. You are a bit harsh on Gervonta though. Of course he's green, he's a kid literally.

Way to destroy your own argument by bringing up Canelo. Alvarez was 23 years old when he fought Mayweather. Gervonta will turn 23 this year, he is a titlist, yet he admitted that he doesn't want to fight the best. No one would have a problem with that if he vacated his title and let real men fight for it. But nah, he wants to hold the belt hostage. That is the problem with him, that fraudulent BS.
