Indeed...... Ortiz has made some money fighting on and off in Bellator. Liddell hasn't fought since being knocked out by Rich Franklin in 2011. Says this will be a one off should he lose. And unfortunately it's hard to see a different outcome given his age, inactivity and how bad his chin had declined before he hung the gloves up 7 or so years ago.

Might've been scheduled but never actually happened. They last fought twelve years ago.

Good news for Tito, although that will still leave him officially down in the rivalry 1-2 (but at least on the scoreboard now, for posterity)

They have, seen GBP was promoting the 3rd fight a couple days ago. But it's not a rubbermatch IB, I'm pretty sure Liddell stomped Ortiz in both their previous meetings.

I think Lidell was being taken care of with like a minor job for the UFC after he retired, because he was a personal friend of Dana White's, but when they sold UFC last year he got a pink slip and now he probably needs money.

    Round 3

Delgado is stepping wide and trying to bait González into exchanges by lunging in with jabs and hooking high off of them. González is smothering the shorter man, pushing him against the ropes and poking with light jabs on the body and slapping at the earmuffs and sides of the head of Delgado while pressing into him. Delgado just pinning his forearms beneath his throat and letting González tee off.

    10-9 González

    29-28 González

I mean, it was sold but Dana is still a massively influential figure in the company. I'm sure if he really cared he could've negotiated keeping Chuck around.

Franklin vs. Liddell was actually June of 2010, according to Wikipedia.

If he somehow manages a three-peat against Tito it will come a month before his forty-ninth birthday.

Liddell was definitely a vastly superior fighter to Ortiz. In his prime only Rampage really had his number. Getting the better of Ortiz and Couture across multiple fights was definitely quite the feat(and still is) He's one of those guys who just couldn't hang anymore once his chin left him.

Just checked Tito's record. It must have been his January fight with Chael Sonnen I was thinking of. Bellator doesn't care if you retired a decade ago as long as you have a name.

Yeah and tbf he was taking it to Frankin. Looked to be on his way to a TKO win after breaking Franklins left arm with a kick only to be clobbered in the dying seconds of the opening frame while recklessly charging at Franklin.

I mean neither does UFC, neither did Strikeforce...really these "geezer" matches are the norm in MMA (far more than even in boxing).

Some guy on the Nurmagemedov vs. McGregor card this week is like 40 years old and was a name fighter in their prime like a dozen years ago, IIRC. Now being recycled and buried on a mid- or prelim section of the card.
