ESPN2: Óscar Rafael Valdez Fierro vs. Scott Quigg & Erick De León vs. Andy Vences RBR

If he can switch gears and box his way to victory I'll be very impressed...he already swam out pretty far into deep waters convincing himself that knocking out Quigg was an option for him.

Valdez is getting batted around the ring by clubbing rights, over and over. Valdez is jumping around Quigg, flurrying to no avail, finally resorting to bending at the waist and laying his upper body perpendicular to Quigg and/or tying up. Quigg just slamming in looping & uppercut rights on the body where he can. Hooking combo up close by Quigg and Valdez is ROCKED! BADLY! Quigg is swinging away! Haymakers! Valdez stops him with a starchy body shot. Left hook up to by Valdez! Taking a stand. BIG LEFT HOOK DOWNSTAIRS BY VALDEZ, REVERBERATING THROUGHOUT THE ARENA!

10-9 Quigg, nice heroics late by Valdez but he didn't have a prayer of stealing this one back, seemed nearly out at one point.

Round 6

Valdez is jabbing full-force into Quigg's guard, foolishly wasting energy. Quigg ducks in and Valdez drills him with a big, loaded-up chopping right just behind the ear. If you're going to hurt a guy with any shot, it'll be that equilibrium-sapper. Quigg just calmly straightens himself erect as though he felt nothing but a light breeze. Valdez...you should probably run. Quigg landing uppercuts on the body. Valdez backing up and flurrying. Valdez hurt by a body shot and stumbles into the ropes, bounces off them, into Quigg who gives him a little stiff-arm, causing Valdez to fall. Ruled a shove by Lou Moret which is technically correct but a body punch did set up that whole sequence, so a knockdown ruling wouldn't have been too amiss. Valdez getting walloped all over the belt line - mostly above, some straying a bit below unseen by Mr. Magoo in the pale blue shirt. Valdez's flurries are not even tickling Quigg.

Wow, that's very generous to Valdez, and I'm definitely rooting for him big-time (have always liked him & disliked Quigg)
