    Yep.

    There have been lots of times where guys get away with murder and land half a dozen blatant power punches to the family jewels in the first few rounds. I'm not sure hard deductions wouldn't be appropriate in most of those cases (warnings being more for borderline).

    Not that this one ruling will enact any great sea change, but any deterrent that effectively dissuades combatants from intentionally aiming below the belt is a well set precedent in my book.

    how the feck does rafael know that kahn's punch landed above the belly button? it landed on the belt which obscured the belly button. if one had to guess (which rafael would) i'd guess it probably landed right on the belly button

    Yeah, the one he got dq'ed on wasn't the worst offense - but it's Miranda's job to have some situational awareness and be mindful of his own behavior when he's already had two points deducted. Allowing his glove to drop anywhere near that region was just unfathomably stupid on his part.
