ESPN2 FNF announced the Klitschko-Chagaev fight would take place on June 20th. I had heard speculation on here and from other sources that Ruslan Chagaev was a likely replacement opponent but ESPN FNF announced it tonight. The bad news is HBO is rejecting the fight but Showtime and ESPN are probably interested, so Americans may get to see it, I hope so anyways.

Good news, still can't understand why HBO will turn down a heavyweight unification bout. Looking forward to it.

BIG! let down, another beat down of a bum by wlad....good work wlad, keep killing the heavyweight division, continue to run scared of haye....first the ridiculous contract, and now "i'm a kid at a candy store, since haye got hurt to fight somebody else" abosolutely a ***** move by wlad, grow a pair and wait 3 weeks.

I don't think it appeals to US fans. Or it is Golden Boy controlling everything.

This is not that exciting of a fight. The prospect of Wlad fighting another southpaw doesn't exactly make me cum in my pants, it's like someone telling you your getting a Ford Mustang (Haye), instead you end up with Chevy Cobalt (Chagaev). It's better than nothing, but certainly not as good as the other option.

The reason HBO is not picking it up is because they would have to pay for it, and they feel that it's not worth the money. I'm guessing they have a fixed budget for what they spend on boxing, and they think it's better to pass on this snoozer of a fight and save that money for something their viewers will appreciate more. This saves HBO from the cost of moving their broadcasting teams out to Germany as well.

Yeah stfu noob. You really think Wlad is scared of Haye you ****in idiot ? :-(
The contracts were signed and everything was ok until Haye injured himself.
Chagaev is a good fighter who is far more accomplished than Haye at heavyweight and adds way more to Wlad's legacy, it's a logic thing to do. You are probably too ****in stupid to know that RTL, the german network could not be avalaible in July for the post-ponement, that's why he choose that. This fight is appealing in Germany.

edit : It will probably not be the most exciting fight, but in terms of legacy it is worth a lot more.

oh ok, if you are not wary of a guy why make a guy sign a 3 fight deal, and then say oh you have to fight my other boring robot brother if you beat me, sounds like somebody **** a brick in their pants watching haye's ko artist record with his right hand.....and then acts giddy as a catholic school girl to fight somebody else.....please wlad grow some testicals.....or did the nuclear fall-out from chernobyal do something to your genetics?

Never mind HBO . . . the fight can still happen even without HBO.

    Let's get it on!

Wladimir gets good numbers, an has a good following, he gets a few million view for both his live time about 1pm pacific time, an the replay at night time. An this to me is a good match up.

Maybe he will PPV, see what kind of numbers he will get, maybe it is to late to do so, i am not sure.

I agree that it is a kind of strange deal, but Haye accepted it because they offered him a lot of money. At this stage, there is no "i'm afraid of him or him" it's all business. It is just not honest to pretend that Wlad is "ducking" Haye and he was praying for that all during his training camp.

Exactly! They would much rather play a good movie in its place. They know people would watch that !

Wladimir does not want to do PPV, because he wants fans to be able to follow him freely.
