Gatica is doubling the right jab in short little flicks, no snap on them, just fluttering his knuckles in Adams' field of vision but not making contact. Lunging lefts up top by Gatica jumping in behind the hummingbird jab, missing. A few lefts crash in under Adams' guard but most of those attempted downstairs hit strategically placed elbow. Sharp right hand counters by Adams, drawing Gatica around the ring and then strapping him with left hooks delivered from off the ropes as Gatica presses in on him with lazy right jabs. Gatica is driven away by a long aggressive crouching step by Adams, who feints a 1-2 down low and then lands a right hand up top.

Round 6

Gatica lobs in a big left uppercut and connects on Adams while circling. Adams counters with a right hand as Gatica excitedly closes in. Adams sticks the left jab and fires right uppercuts in tight, short lines from a fixed position at his chest. Hard right hand by Adams as Gatica paws the jab. Gatica takes another right hand thrown overhead in a duck by Adams, draping his arms over Adams in a clinch. Left hook, right hand by Adams. Gatica puts the right jab out behind Adams' neck and grasps, pulling Adams into a sloppy left uppercut downstairs.

Gatica's been feisty in the last two, but I'm still not really seeing him land...definitely not better (or at the higher percentage) than Adams is.

 

Round 7

Gatica is rowing the right jab out lightly and looking to get inside and thump on the body with underhanded combos. Adams is denying him any real estate, countering with long sharp right hand leads. Adams flits in and out while Gatica flurries low to high. Gatica is chased into a lateral trot around Adams as he takes left hooks on the hip.

Round 8

Gatica is approaching with the right arm still dangling vertically at his thigh, waving out sloppy jabs coming forward. Adams is checking him with jab-feints and sharp right hand counters on the chin. Gatica is jumping in with the shake-it-out double jab and looking to drill the left hand into Adams' face but missing wide as they collide in a clinch. Jab by Adams, scoring downstairs. Wild left up top by Gatica, just scraping the right shoulder of Adams as he steps back and pivots. Jabs in and out by Adams. 1-2 on the forehead by Adams. Left hand by Gatica, ducked, countered with a 1-2 on the body. Adams never staying too close for too long. WILD looping left by Gatica, caught on the gloves. Big combo by Gatica, crashing through Adams' guard. Counter right hand on the kisser by Adams.
