ESPN2 FNF: Chris Algieri vs. Emanuel Taylor RBR

Rounds 1-2

Algieri is looking to bully Taylor, using lots of combinations and forcing Taylor into a mostly defensive shell although he trades in spots.

20-18 Algieri

 

Round 3

Taylor is looking to roll in and snap the hook on Algieri's head but is unable to pull his trigger without Algieri flurrying on him and forcing him to hide behind the peekaboo arm cloister. Taylor is emerging from his shell more and more, showing glimpses of intent but not really generating offense consistently. Good jab by Taylor, but one and done.

10-9 Algieri

Round 4

Algieri is slinking into a loose shoulder roll, hopping in place and trading jabs with Taylor. Left hooks and right crosses put together in combination by Algieri. Taylor seems frustrated, like he wants Algieri to calm down and give him a turn. Taylor would rather be playing T-ball than baseball right now, Algieri whiffing him with just the fastball over and over. Nothing exceptional about the work of Algieri, there is just lots of it and enough to shut down Taylor whenever he seems ready to explode.

Round 5

Algieri is putting together left hooks on the body hopping in, clapping rights up top, and finishing with a left hook to remember him by. Taylor is caging his face in his arms while Algieri flurries and countering sloppily, looking panicky, then stepping forward and jabbing angrily into the air while Algieri circles to shore up more energy for the next attack. Taylor drops a few jabs on the body, yet can't find the head of Algieri with his long over-the-shoulder right hand.
