That was fairly close, but I thought Algieri dictated the terms of engagement for most of that frame. :conf

    Round 8

Algieri is doing full-body revolutions, cutting invisible squares, down, right, up, left and then reversing the pattern - giving Taylor no kind of stable target. Jabs and long fishing right hands from outside by Algieri. Hard jabs by Taylor flung out from tight against his chest, still primarily defensive and wary of the sporadic flurries of Algieri.

    10-9 Algieri

    80-72 Algieri

I overrated Taylor and underrated Algieri. I thought Taylor won the PAN American gold medal in the amateurs, which is pretty prestigious. I must have been mistaken. Taylor just doesn't throw enough punches, he reminds me of a poor mans Joshua Clottey.

Taylor's performance is a bit underwhelming, but Algieri is showing some real skill in there.

Well, my preliminary report on this was that Emanuel Taylor has more power (thinking it would be the difference maker) - and I still believe he does. It just doesn't matter because Algieri isn't letting him use it, because he is mentally handcuffing and hog-tying Taylor.

    Round 9

Algieri is doubling the jab from the Philly shell leaning back and twisting right, then spinning counterclockwise and tossing in a high right hand and then backing away before Taylor can gather his wits and do anything in response. A few jabs poked out by Taylor stepping clumsily in pursuit. Taylor grows angry in the last minute and jumps in with hard flurries but Algieri is able to lean and roll while moving, letting them cascade off his sloped shoulders.

    10-9 Algieri

    90-81 Algieri
