    Round 7

Serrano gets Abril on the ropes with some big slapping left hooks and pole-vaulting rights. Abril just ducks back into the ropes to get some give and bounce off, then slither past Serrano. Lazy right hand by Serrano misses. Lazy slapping left hook by Serrano misses. Abril turns his right side in and raises his forearm to block a Serrano flurry. Abril is all defensive, doing nothing to attack. One pawed right jab, that's about it through two minutes. Clinch. Serrano circles out wide with his left hanging low and straight. Nice double jab by Serrano.

    10-9 Serrano

    66-66

    Round 8

Serrano lobs some long lazy jabs, and Abril stuffs a hard right upper-hook into the bottom of his ribs. Serrano takes baby steps while circling, and snaps his slow jab. Abril is ducking it and rolling his gloves around, obscuring his head as a target. Abril tries a southpaw 1-2 and is swatted by a lazy Serrano left hook. Serrano goes back into the low-left stance with his right cocked up by his chin and his body cheated outward to his left. Big slapping left hook by Serrano is turned aside by a lifted right arm from Abril. Serrano flurries. Clinch. Jab by Serrano ducked. Lunging right by Serrano ducked. Clinch. Right hand lead by Serrano claps hard into the gloves, and is followed by a slapping hook with his feet planted which gets him clinched. Abril is closing the bear trap on him whenever he can.

    10-9 Serrano

    76-75 Serrano

Anybody else think that for an undefeated prospect in his 18th bout, it's a little strange how slow Serrano's hands are? :think

I suppose it's creditable to him to have made it this far (even against middling opposition) with such poor hand speed. He must do something right.

He's an undefeated prospect in his 18th fight and he has 100+ amateur fights. His sloppiness and lack of speed just doesn't add up.

    10-9 Serrano, 87-83 Serrano.

    Round 9

Serrano flaps his jab lightly against Abril's guard. The two dance in and out of range of each other, with Abril ducking low and looking to measure Serrano for straight right jabs to the face while Serrano is fishing for heavy body shots. Serrano is ducking under the right jab and chipping away with light touches to the body, mostly with long right uppercuts. Serrano keeps walking in and catches the odd left hand spearpoint to the chest, but isn't held back for long. Serrano keeps hooking away to back Abril up across the ring.

    10-9 Serrano

    86-84 Serrano
