Mitchell turns down a hook to the body and feigns some right hands, backing Ayala up. The Connecticutter jabs, jabs, and leans in on Mitchell. Both guys stray a bit low and land in the square of each other's back as they're leaning together and twisting on the inside. Both are warned for it. "Keep 'em up and in front!" Ayala pops a 1-2 and circles out. Ayala is scooping out body shots and grabbing as Mitchell dives in on him. Mitchell is working the body in the clinch. Another quick combo popped by Ayala, then stepping back, lying in wait, and grabbing. Mitchell bashes his way out of the clinch, drumming on Ayala's trunks. Clinch. Ayala hooks his way out. Another tie up.

Dannie is in a lifelike rubber suit constructed to look like Eric Mitchell. He's just getting warmed up for the main event with some glorified sparring against a middleweight.

Round 3

Mitchell is kicking his legs out behind him, boxing and moving. A few jabs up from the hip at long range, but not much activity. Ayala isn't forcing the issue. Long lunging jabs while dipping at the knees, not moving his feet to close the gap. Mitchell flinches from Ayala's outstretched jab and feints from the outside, twitching his right hand to keep Ayala from rushing in. Ayala tries to force-feed Mitchell the jab stepping forward, then hooks around the back of his glove. Mitchell is catching absolutely everything Ayala throws on his palm. No punches thrown back, though. Ayala throws a sloppy overhand right and Mitchell easily leans over to his right to roll under it. Mitchell pushes with a jab and gains some ground. Ayala chips away at the body.

29-28 Ayala, Mitchell just didn't throw enough.

Round 4

Clinch. Both work the body with wide underhands. Ayala windmills in and leans against Mitchell. Long jab thrust out by Mitchell, but he can't build off of it before the next leaning clinch. Ayala tosses out some sloppy body punches and backs Mitchell up. Clinch. Ayala flicks out a left jab coming forward, wide open. Clinch. Mitchell pushes Ayala into the ropes and mauls him. Body punches by Mitchell. Left hook to the head after ducking and weaving under and through the pocket by Mitchell. Ayala is shoved back to the opposite ropes, Mitchell still digging to the body. Slow hook by Ayala misses. Mitchell keeps burying his forehead into Ayala's chest. Ayala taps him on the side of the head with two soft slapping hooks. Body hooks by Mitchell. Ayala is roughed up against yet another set of ropes, the fourth. All over the joint, Mitchell carries him.
