Leyva's eye is badly cut. The doctor delays the start of the sixth to look at it.

His corner inexplicably is BEGGING for another round. :blood

    Round 6

Some hard straight rights by Paredes, who is picking up his aggression and forward pace. Left upper-hooks by Paredes on the way in. Leyva is fleeing to the ropes, leaning back, and swallowing Paredes up into clinches as he gets close. Long double right jab and left cross by Leyva from across the ring, not landing effectively but giving Paredes momentary pause. Paredes keeps giving Leyva too much respect considering Leyva has never so much as buzzed him and doesn't appear to be able to turn anything over very forcefully even when not on the back foot. Leyva is changing directions, jumping in semi-circles around Paredes and popping right jabs and straight lefts. Paredes steps in and flurries at Leyva's temples with the inner part of his knuckle padding. Nice left hand lead by Leyva, catching Paredes on the chin while ducking low.

    10-9 Paredes

    60-52 Paredes

The sixth was Leyva's best round, but he didn't win it. If you were reaching to give him a sympathy round maybe - but honestly it was still well short.

    Best defensive round.
