I see Gonzales as a good litmus test fighter. He's solid fundamentally, but doesn't posses a skill he can depend on to win a fight. A guy will have to be pretty good to beat him, but he won't trouble the elite of his division.

    Round 8

Gonzales is whipping the right hand to the body and grabbing Mouton, pushing off to propel himself outside. Left hook by Gonzales. Mouton keeps winding up his own left hook upstairs while coming forward. Gonzales catches his wrist and pulls him in close, then backs out. Wild overhand right by Mouton, slowly falling past Gonzales' head. Arm punches by Mouton on the inside. Gonzales presses him to the ropes until the ref calls for a break. Combo to the arms by Gonzales. Mouton clubs with a right hand, and Gonzales rolls under it and smothers Mouton on the ropes. Left hook by Mouton. Combos and ducking by Gonzales. Jab by Gonzales, and Mouton marches through it to land a left hook. Combo by Gonzales, duck, another combo. Double hook by Mouton. Gonzales is stunned a little. Another double hook by Mouton.

    10-9 Gonzales

    80-72 Gonzales

Like I said, if there were two more rounds, we'd have some drama. Gonzales was dead in there. It looked like he just ran the marathon in there.

Yeah, but not until the final ten seconds. Why didn't he start doubling up the hook earlier?

I wanted to say Gonzales had arived but the way he crumbled down the stretch and probably would be KO'd if it was a 10 round fight makes me think different.

I can't see Gonzales being anything other than a journeyman.

Atlas had it 78-74 Gonzales, giving Mouton the last two.

How can't you give Mouton the 7th and 8th, during both rounds he hurt Gonzales badly with left hands while Gonzales just had pitty pat punches and tie-ups in his favor.
