    Burgos is backing up with double steps, countering with left and right uppercuts to the body and evading Cruz's wild high-arcing haymakers. Again Cruz dives face-first into a Burgos counter uppercut and spills to the canvas. Again, ruled a slip. Cruz is applying constant pressure but just threshing air. Burgos makes him miss and slaps out with long-armed counters, just touching Cruz enough to score but not turned over well or landing effectively.

    Stiff jab to the face by Burgos, snapping his head back sharply. Cruz keeps coming forward and Burgos catches him with a counter left hook, dropping him! Cruz beats the count and comes swarming in, only to be warned for rabbit punches. Cruz down again! Slip! Burgos jabs to the body. Cruz has a cut by his right eye. Wild rights by Cruz. Burgos hangs back on the outside and looks to sweep out wide with hooks to the head of Cruz. Burgos is waiting and squeezing his gloves together to form a net to catch Cruz's high jabs. Cruz lets a jab get blocked and then slams a right hand behind it, scoring. Burgos dances away as Cruz grazes with a right to the body.
