Nugaev TKO4 Quintero (not RTD4; as it was actually the referee who called it off after overhearing Quintero tell his corner the hand was broken)

Quintero didn't have the heart to finish, he didn't like those body shots and he's lucky to have that excuse to quit because I think Nugaev would've stopped him late.

    Hahhaa

I don't know, he was getting hit to the body.

Getting hit to the body consecutively when someones cornered is something I always cringe at.

Just a real **** poor strategy unless you truly have the ability to counter and get them off you (Toney, Mayweather)

Yeah...like Atlas pointed out, it was the less important hand for a southpaw. He probably could have toughed it out and put in the additional eighteen minutes of work boxing one-handed...but it would have been uphill climbing (especially with Nugaev being a slow-starter who improves as fights bear on, and would've kept applying pressure while the rusty Quintero sought breathing room). I mean, lots of guys have probably fought through worse than what he suffered in there, but not everybody has the same threshold or competitive spirit. :conf

I certainly wouldn't condone putting him in the same category with a Tor Hamer or anything. He just, on the flip side, won't be going down as one of the all-time 'heart of a warrior' types, needless to say...

He had better performances against common low end opponents, but a lesser overall resume because Ward fought the better and higher class opposition.

This was confirmed with the Andrade 1 fight, and how Bute was destroyed by Froch.

No fighting bums isn't enough to earn a fight against the undisputed champ, beating high level comp is.

Chavez and GGG are calling Ward out and since no one wants to step up to the plate if they want to get some he is available at 168. But he isn't chasing after them.

Adonis can call out whoever he wants, the sad part again is the fact that Ward is fighting at 168 and isn't leaving. The second he comes down to 168 and signs the contract I"m sure they would have a fight, but he doesn't want to. So again instead of trying to dickride a person who wants to fight someone in a smaller division, why don't you ask why Adonis wants nothing to do with Kovalev.

    LOL

I'm with Roy, that is BS. Your power hand is your most important hand. Especially for a fighter like Nugaev. You have to have your power to get their respect and make them less prone to walking on you. Hell Eddie Chambers showed us that against Adamek and he beat him with 1 hand.

Interesting. The official judges all had it 38-38 through four.
