    Round 1

Pérez is checking the aggression of Duarte, shooting a double jab over the head and then shunting his line of attack when Duarte comes slashing wide at the body. Pérez is controlling the pace and working nice straight combos while stepping around his opponent, sprinkling in long hooks at the body while turning Duarte. Not much coordinated from Duarte, just scooting in, head lowered, throwing overhands and jabbing into the crossed forearms of Pérez.

    10-9 Pérez

    Round 2

Pérez is baited into a few more exchanges now, Duarte able to catch him with the overhand right a few times and build off it to score a few hooks as Pérez is backing straight up into the ropes. Duarte keeps the pressure on in explosive bursts. Duarte is flicking jabs at the chest and then roaring to life with his power shots, headhunting. Duarte hurts Pérez a few times.

    10-9 Duarte

    Round 3

Pérez manages to establish the jab and outbox Duarte in the first minute and change, keeping himself in a cruise moving clockwise & popping jabs. Duarte then starts to bear down with a bit under 90 seconds remaining, and starts to force Pérez into the corner a few times, ripped with right overhand leads followed by lunging left hooks. Pérez is scrambling to jab his way to freedom.

    10-9 Duart, close

    29-28 Duarte

    Round 4

Pérez is jabbing into the forehead of Duarte to create space and then staying in a Philly shell but not drifting too far outside, just snapping his pivots to round those corners and keep things in the middle of the ring while countering with jabs from the hip. Duarte unable to mount any significant offense and looking amateurish, unable to cut the ring down, just following in a partial crouch and occasionally (but not often enough to work the law of averages) springing up with power shots at the head, completely neglecting the relatively open body of Pérez. A few slick backfoot hooks off the jab strewn in by Pérez as he turns his opponent in the middle of the ring.

    10-9 Pérez

    38-38

    Round 5

Pérez is having to meet Duarte's jab every few seconds, checking it with his own while backpedaling. Duarte utilizing the jab effectively to keep Pérez busily distracted, then clipping him with sweeping rights of left hooks while rapidly extending to full height off his bent knees. Pérez is forced to relent terrain or clinch frequently, not having ample time for getting his feet set to counter. Duarte is positioning himself in Pérez's chest, thrusting his upper body far inside and low, and leading with that jab to great effect.

    10-9 Duarte

    48-47 Duarte

    Round 6

Pérez is switching to southpaw and brushing the hair of Duarte with the right jab, then swatting a hook off it as he is backed into a corner by Duarte's constant low stalking. Duarte turtles his shoulders over most of his skull, hunched into a tight package and delivering himself into the front porch, butting down the screen door, sometimes quite literally smashing through Pérez's guard headfirst to separate his wrists. Pérez is caught by three-piece straight combos leading with the right and backed into the ropes while shimmying and trying in vain to slip them by swiveling his chin side to side. Big left hook on the liver by Duarte.

    10-9 Duarte

    58-56 Duarte

This started really well for Pérez (four really solid consecutive rounds; @PinoyProdigy and I reached a 38-38 draw through four via different means so you could probably have anywhere from 39-37 Duarte to a Pérez shutout) but everything has been falling apart since then... I'm worried for the Sindangan Tech.

    Round 7

Pérez is shooting his jab over the head of Duarte, clearly tired and no longer putting as much snap on it, even telegraphing it to such an extent that Duarte, while slower, can get inside and land before the left arm of the Filipino has fully extended. Duarte is working the body, ripping it with short hooks while leaned deeply into the pocket and then airlifting himself to crowd Pérez with his broader-shouldered frame and bear down on him with power punches which Pérez is increasingly less adept at avoiding.

"The corner of Rey Pérez is saying the sun is setting on his career if he doesn't win the next round.."

Did they really say that, Bernardo, verbatim or are you just waxing poetic?

Tal vez solo un poquito, ¿no?
