Nick Poulard is Jean Pascal's half-brother. He is also 14-3 (6) and up against 11-8-1 (5) Alfredo Contreras in an eight-rounder at light heavyweight.

    Round 1

Poulard does not have his bro's output, letting Contreras get cute with bobs and feints and prance about the ring. Poulard has a very Pascal-like guard and defense but simply isn't throwing much back. When he does, it's the cleaner and more effective work, but he damned near just gave a round away to a pretty bad boxer.

    Round 2

Poulard is now extending his jab while ducking down, moving his head and touching up the body of Contreras. Poulard is able to effectively block all attempts to counter by Contreras until he gets up close but instead of infighting he just smothers himself. It's jabs on the way in, maybe a hook here and there, nothing on the inside, and then nothing on the way out. Contreras chases him away with a clubbing right hand and gets a bit cocky. Contreras throwing more punches, but slow and not very technical. Poulard is just extremely economical. Poulard plays possum in the corner and lands a huge left hook on the sideburns of Contreras that twists his neck, but Contreras begins to act tough and showboat a bit, sticking his chin out. Poulard gets the better of an exchange against the ropes but really should be getting rid of this guy.

    20-18 Poulard

    Round 3

Poulard is thrusting his jabbing arm out sideways as a deflector, and throwing mainly right hands while blocking the little poky shots of Contreras. Poulard pressures effectively in his own slow way, and gets Contreras with a good right hand off a jab in the corner that has him down on one knee and grinning his tough guy grin again but obviously shaken. Another right hand lands immediately with Poulard smelling blood in the water and swimming right in jaws-first.

    ba-deep ba-deep ba-deep c'est tout, folks!

    Oh, Lundy. :yep

What "main event" was he supposed to have been involved in "on Thursday night" that nobody else knew about as of Wednesday (which is when he was called in as a replacement for Edner Cherry here)? :blood

Here it is, folks. The moment we've been waiting all year for.

    The 2010 ESPN2 MAIN EVENT!

    Round 1

Lundy jabs. Lowther jabs. Lundy takes a right to the throat and takes it well while trying to loop one of his own. A reaching uppercut misses for Lundy. Lowther patiently circles and jabs while Lundy tries to set up some flashy and showy offensive innovation (and fails to land much). They trade freely and Lundy takes a right to land a hook. They settle down and take turns jabbing. Lowther hooks from way too far out and stumbles. Lundy is too out of range to hurt him before he can regain his balance. They jab to the bell.

Atlas just said that BOTH Klitschko and Peter have "improved mentally and physically and technically" (in the five years since last they met in the ring).

    BOTH.

    Round 2

Lundy continues to throw unorthodox punches out of his slick defensive stance, landing a bit but not hurting Lowther so much as just keeping him tentative. Body jabs land for Lundy, crazy tiger uppercuts do not. Lowther circles right and jabs, then goes a bit crazy with a sweeping four-punch combo that gets ducked as he sprawls and nearly throws himself off balance.

    20-18 Lundy

Lowther seems just a bit too basic, a little too ABC'ish. He's not making PB&J sandwiches right now.
