Exactly! Cotto's last fight against Gomez was the lowest rated in HBO history. What people need to realize is outside of Puerto Rico, New York and places like ESB Cotto is a virtual unknown. He doesn't have the huge base like people here think he does.
I mean the truth of it is, this rant by those two may have just played directly into Oscar/PBF's hands. Now on NationWide TV all of America just saw that and is probably now thinking, "yeah, I wanna see PBF vs. Cotto!", when 20 mins. ago they may not have given a ****. Now when it comes off, it will be even bigger.
Floyd said he would fight Cotto after he built his name up so the fight would make more money. With that said team Cotto still never attempted to make an offer to PBF.
Yup, this is nothing new Sugar Ray did this with Hearns, everybody wanted that fight immediatly, but he waited to demand was through the rough and cashed in on it. PBF is just playing us, that money hungry *******.
Do you blame him though?? Really? I mean we want the fight, but as a business man PBF is wanting to make the most money he can, while he can. As long as the fight comes off, I won't hold nothing against him. Well, **** it, I can't say I'd blame him any way. I do want to see it, but Got Dayum, he's won 6 titles in 5 weight divisions= He really doesn't owe us ****.:rofl
So would you say Floyd ducked Margarito in 2006, when at the time a career high payday was offered to him?
I aint buying it but I know who will and I'll just take beer to his house. I will pay for Floyd/Cotto though.
I think the main reason he turned down that deal was he just didn't want to work with Arum, because he couldn't get him enough money on his future fights. Plus Arum wouldn't work with Don King or GBP back then, which held back fights.
